How do some of you go thru rotors so fast?
I have been reading a few posts and see some of you go thru rotors in just a few oil changes. Some of you I know road race/hpde on them, is that what wears them out so fast. Or are you just replacing them because they are warped.
I have about 50k on my 00 si rotors and they are smooth as could be and have small surface cracks all over them but nothing to worry about. I haven't checked the thickness although I know i should since they are lipped pretty bad it seems like. I am very hard on the brakes and have at least 20-25 auto-x's on them but i'm just wondering how some of you wear them down so fast.
I'm also on my 3rd set of pads, from stock, to endless(only used about 3/4 pad), to ultimates now.

Track time wears rotors down fast. The higher speeds +heavy braking generate large amaounts of heat. It is that combo that contributes to costant rotor changes. I have had no warping with race pads. I just throw them away after two race weekends. At $21 a rotor, I buy new rotors, rather than resurface.
Auto-x is not nearly as hard on the breaks as to HPDE/ road racing. The speeds that the car needs to stop are a lot bigger compared to teh 30-45mph at an autocross event. The racing pads such as Hawk Blues or Pxp will definetly help into the equation...

I wished this set would have lasted longer.

Good thing I've got a track-dedicated set of rotors and pads for my event this weekend.
Ryan~ Good luck this weekend. Wish I could be there, but I'll driving at higher speeds at TGP.
