thats what my setup is most likely gonna be. can anyone add or subtract things that i need, or dont need or should replace. also what kind of numbers should i expect with this setup? thanks for your help

aftermarket flywheel.... try to get a ITR tranny with LSD and a good FD
yeah i plan on getting new bearings for the rods. i was also thinking of just postponing the swap for a couple more months so i can save up some more money for some aftermarket rods.(its hard to build a motor when you work 3 days a week and a full time student)
trade in those arp head bolts for the arp rod bolts for ls<<they tend to stretch after a period of time. your motor will not be making anywhere near the amount of power needed for head studs. but all in all that sounds like enough to have some fun with. id say about 170ish whp with a few lbs short of 130 or so. good luck.

get some rods and a girdle if you want to rev to 8k every chance you get...
oh and i hear that the ITR water and oil pumps are better flowing...can anyone confirm this?

so ditch my b16a1 water pump,oilpump for ITR ones.... get ARP rod bolts instead of ARP head bolts. and get aftermarket rods if i want to rev to 8k.
say i dont get aftermarket rods and i shotpeen and balance my motor. will that allow me to rev to 8k safely rather than buying aftermarket rods?

no your fine with stock rods. u dont need rods to rev to 8 grand. i build ls vtec stock rods with arp and some with out that rev to the moon. (9k plus) type r oil pump is no different then any b series vtec. all the same. and as far as girdle, yes it helps in harmonics at high rpm. but you wont feel a thing. its all how the motor is built. thats the most important. let me know if you need your motor built right, to make power and stay reliable for the street.

how often are you going to be revving past 8K?? if often, then id get them just to be safe.

Dont buy a b16 timing belt. A gsr or type r will work. B16 is going to be too short. Good luck.
dop not buya gsr timing belt if you are using a b16 water pump. it has 19 teeth just like an ls so buy an LS one. If you choose to buy a type r water pump then buy a gsr timing belt.

also if you are gonna get a chip id recommend a stock jdm b16 proggy with a higher redline. dont buy into that mugen, skunk crap. IMHO they really dont do much except for improve detonation lol......the car also ran better when we switched froma skunk2 ecu to a stock ecu chip.
im not sure if there is a diference between the b16 and gsr water pumps . i have a ls vtec and am using a 2000 b16 water pump and a gsr t belt.been running it for almost a year no problem.
don't use the ITR pistons. They will only give you a 10.9:1 comp.ratio. This is not high enough for the LS/vtec. I have 3 friends who have all built LS/vtec's, all different setups. Check out this site http://www.lsvtec.dynons.org. He used Itr pistons and will explain it to you better. Other than that looks like a nice set-up. I would also suggest Hondata. The LS/vtec's love to be fine tuned.

As long as the motor is built right by a proffessional and not some person that has no business trying to assemble a motor. your should be fine. my lsvtecs last for over 43,000 miles so far and counting. thats because it was built right.

I am serious. I did a little resurch at http://www.c-speedracing.com. I used their compression calculator (give it a try,its cool) and came up with this. In your set up a p73 (usdm itr) will give you 10.8:1. p73 (JDM itr) 11.3:1. p30 (JDM b16a) 11.5:1. And the pr3 that you have, will give you 11.3:1. I'm not sure what cams you are planing to run but I would run the highest comp. that I could. High lift cams like high compression. A 11.5 to 12.0 would be nice. My friend Jamie is running an 11.7:1 comp. ratio. He has a nice set up, nothing too crazy and very will built, no short cuts. We tuned it with Hondata and hit 180 hp/ 140 tq. there is more in there but he needs to get rid of the stock B16a intake in favor of the Skunk 2. I don't know if you checked the first link I posted but his power was no where close to 180/140. This was in part caused by the low comp. Also like LuckyRacing said. Make sure its built right or it will be a ticking time bomb. I hope this will help you out.
