I have Question about running TESTPIPE.. Help~
I am running JDM DC 4-1 and T1R testpipe+b-pipe. and spoon N1
The question is.... about ECL... I covered up the O2 censor with foil and ductaped it and zip tied it at a drive shaft..
The ECL was not on for like 3 weeks and it finals came on..
I reset the ECU and the ECL was gone but came back on in about 3 days.
While doing oil change i pulged in a machine [reads and fix(remove) and so on] to my ECU and removed the ECL but same story.. It came back on about in 2-3 days again.
And the Mail Question is it gonna cause my car to run rich??
My car has been burning oil since than but it was burning oil for last 2 oil change but i got my testpipe during 2nd -3rd oil change.
Thx for reading the long story
Thx lot..

my friend with itr is running test pipe too. he just zip tied the o2 sensor to shift linkage and called it a day. he's never had a check engine light or ne thing. his is 2001 by the way. maybe try taking off all the foil and duct tape. maybe u need to let it breathe a lil.

It's "CEL".
A code 67 does not hinder/alter performance in any way, so the oil consumption is unrelated.
Also there is no permanent fix to prevent throwing a code with a teet pipe.
Just learn to live with the CEL since it does not affect performance.

When i put my testpipe on I couldn't take the o2 sensor off the stock cat, so i just unpluged it, put some electric tape over the connector and shoved it into the cabin/hole it came from and put a rubber boot over the hole. The 2nd o2 sensor on the cat just measures emissions, does not affect performance, i have my engine light on all the time and it does not affect performance or burn oil at all.

yea just learn to live with the cel i did for like 2 yrs it doesnt hinder the perf at all . only major cells will put in limp mode, not something thats like emissions like that
i converted over to obd1 now and just took off the second o2

what about a obd1 ecu?
edit: work in this case = time/money

yea it more work and money, but it was an added + when i switched over to hondata i had to goto obd1, so the cell going off was a nice throw in
I used to run a test pipe on my 98 and had no CEL's. What you need to do is weld a bung on the pipe, but a long one so the o2 sensor isnt sitting in the direct flow of the gases. For some reason, this will trick the sensor and tell it theres a good ratio going through. I had the pipe for a couple years and didnt throw a code once. I cant explain why it works. Ryan
my test pipe has a bung for the O2, which i leave in and it never kicks a CEL. I ran it for months before i got my SMSP cat, but dont run it now except at AutoX events.
I had the same problem after a few weeks with mine and than I welded a nut on the test pipe and put the o2 in the pipe and it never comes on any more the weird thing is I also have a 96 civic with a LS/odb2 in it and it has been zip tied to the linkage for two years driven in the MN saltly street winters and it has never come I beleave if you have it in the pipe and your car is tuned/runing the way it is spupose to that light should not come on cat or no cat
I got my t.p. from Testpipe.com. Full S.S., 2.5" & welded O2 bung w/ cat mterial in the bung to fool the O2. Never had a CEL from it in almost 2 yrs. $39.95 +Shipping.
it looks like you don't have the spring blots that connect the testpipe to the header. won't your header crack when you shift gears and the engine shifts??
Its not good to leave those springs off. I had no springs and snapped a stud in my head on the exhaust side. They absorb the movement of the exhaust and motor without putting stress on the studs. Just FYI. Ive heard those testpipe.com testpipes work well though
I'm running a modified 2.5 inch Godspeed testpipe (modded flange/reducer to fit stock header) and have been running the little foil trick for 18 months with no CEL. No excessive oil consumption or smoke either. The car is marginally louder under a load, but at cruising speeds its actually pretty quiet.
