I just got the beauty! Now for a couple of q's
here she is!
we got her loaded into the truck just fine, I was very happy
course after we got her in, we had to get her back out.
look at that beautiful behind!
I got a problem though, I don't know if this is a big problem, but it kinda bothers me.
here is another shot of the little problem
I got the complete swap from hmotorsonline, which included the b16, s1 tranny, pr3, hasport shiftlinkage, hasport mounts, and the subharness.
now, I people say these axles are usually busted or broken when they get them, is there anyway of telling if my axles are busted or not? Here's a pic so you can tell me if there is a way
here is another picture of the axles,
oh, yeah what is that big metal thing sitting in the lower right corner? I got that with the shipment too, but i'm not sure what it is
so is there any way you can tell if the axles are good? And is that chunk missing from pulley going to cause me stress??, and if you could, please give me a link or e-mail me a really good write up of installing the b16, i've got a couple but i want one that is really good. Also, i'm planning on changing the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, alternator belt, timing belt, waterpump, I don't have the cash to chagne the clutch so that's a no go
also, one of my buddies said i should probaby pull the flywheel off and get it resurfaced. shoudl i really do that? Oh, yeah, i've got an si by the way so do i need to get the throttle cable, cause i really don't want to have to do that, i'm not for sure how much it costs and how exactly to do that, so i'm wondering if the si will work. I believe that's all the questions I have for now, Thanks so much for the help.

pics are working fine for me.
as for that broken pulley, i dont really know if its a big problem or not, but if it were my engine, i'd replace it for sure, just so that i'd know that its fixed and that I wont have to worry about it.
nice engine though, looks like u didnt have much trouble picking it up.

oh, yeah they weren't working that good at first, but the thing about the pulley, is i don't have any more money to be replacing it, so i'm hoping it will be ok, and as for that little edge that looks like it would be easy to fall off, it did it just kinda came off when i touched it.
the hunk of metal in the corner goes on the back of your tranny, which is what attatches your rear mount to the engine. if you dont know what this is have fun doing your b series swap haha j/k. anyways, the cracked pully, i've seen people run with them cracked but i don't know if i would want to because anything attatched right to your crank that will be spinning at 8500rpm i would want to have balanced. i dont know if you could just grind the whole outer ring (part thats cracked) so it would be balanced, but i would have to fix this problem someway. imo that looks like a clean swap, nice grab, even has the fuel filter

You will have to get the Teg throttle cable if you want to do it right. The si one will work, but you have to custom mount it on there. The throttle cable doesn't cost that much either. If I were you, I'd wait to get everything I needed, then do the swap.
You can run with it cracked just fine. but probley would be a good investment to get a new one when more money is availible.

buy some underdrive pullies when you buy your stuff (honda engines are internally balanced)...i can't see the pics so i dunno what the pully looks like but just a suggestion
You should definately not rush your swap. Wait until you get money and get a new clutch, throttle cable and see if Hmotors will replace the crank pulley. If you clutch is fine you can use it but once the motor's in and your clutch goes it'll be another project to change it. Just what I would do!
You can check my site for a how to. http://www.geocities.com/droppedcrxsi under b16a swap. I got the same thing from steve at hmotors. I had no problems with the axles. I did however, cut the boots, and disect them, checking for bad bearings, and signs of wear. I replaced the boots and greese with genuine acura ones, and they are like new. Are your boots ripped, if so just replace the whole axle. If not, just replace the boots. Because if they are ripped debris can easily get in, and they are likely ruined. Ryan
oh yeah, definately but the throttle cable, but the clutch cable can be modified to fit. I did a wright up on it in my site. Its very hard to explain. Ryan
honestly, you should NEVER be like " well Im short on cash, but **** it! the swap is going in!". DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Who knows what kind of condition that clutch is in on your motor. Get a new pulley or call and have him replace it for you. Its not much to ask. Do it right man, please god do it right...
change the timing belt. check every hose before you swap it. check for oil leaks...
and try to get everything and still have money in your pocket when you start the swap you are gonna need it...
good luck, i'm in the process of picking up my parts for my swap.
