I have a 1994 GSR. The other day I raced a brand new GT Mustang and when I went to shift into forth my RPM's shot to about 9500. Now In 1st and second gear I hear this raspy noise. It sound like the heat shield rattling but it is only in those gears. The car runs fine but just makes some weird noises. Do you think that I will be ok or should I pull it apart? Thank You in Advnce.

 

I think you should check your valve clearances ASAP. Hopefully you just knocked them WAY out of adjustment, and none of them are bent.

 

They tap real loud in 1st and 2nd. Maybe i got lucky and just need an adjustment.

Get a Haynes Repair Manual, it'll explain how to adjust the valves

 

just take it to the dealership, its like 50-60 bucks

 

Or do it yourself for free....
