Default AutoX: P/S Removal?

Would you all advise the removal of power steering from an Integra for autocross? Is this going to be an improvement in handling capabilities, or will it hurt autoX performance because turning at low speeds may not be as easy?

I was thinking of doing it as described in this post: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=184202

No I would advise you against doing it. The power racks are not geared for manual steering. I tried it in my GSR for a track session and hated it. I quickly reinstalled my belt for the next session. I was also running on street tires at high speeds, which in theory should make it easier to steer than an autocross scenario with stickies.

The power gain was not noticable and having held the pump and lines in my hand I can tell you that the weight savings is insignificant. Your times will suffer by removing it UNLESS you replace the power rack with a manual rack from a Civic. Even then I don't see the benefits outweighing the added effort.

Don't take my word for it though - try it and see what you think. The belt can be removed and then reinstalled in a matter of minutes. This will give you an accurate taste of what it will be like.

I would advise AGAINST it for Autox, but for HPDE/racing it is awesome. You can feel what the tires are doing much better, but the car is a bitch to handle in parking lots, and would even take too much effort for autox. But, once you get above 25 or 30 mph,,its all butter.
