H-haters what do you guys think?
#1 Rule: We do not work on, or diagnose any kind of Prelude motor under any circumstances. We will not do any labor on any Prelude. No matter what it is.
#2 Rule: We do build Prelude Blocks and Heads but we will not install it in your car, do any labor with it besides assembly of the engine shortblock. Such blocks will be shipped or picked up by the customer.
#3 Rule: We will not install any turbo kits on any Prelude motor.
#4 Rule: We will dyno tune any Prelude you wish, and install Hondata in it if you wish, but that is the limit of it.
Explanation:
This particular engine requires too much labor for us to do with the workload we have. We are full up doing other engines and builds and do not have the time to diagnose problems or work on such an engine.

sounds like they got burned a couple times.
H motors take twice as long but i meanits not that bad.
Bsereis dont have balanceer shafts and all that mess and two pulleys with drive belt etc..
Thats the main reason why its so expensive.

you can either make lots of money on a few (harder)engines, or less money on (easier)more engines.
high turnover = more profit.
sounds like they dont wanna be tied up with difficult jobs.

actually the amount of effort being put toward those engine is not worth the profit.
I know id rather work on a "b" motor

well if i had an H22 i would really appricate the fact that they are honest enought to tell me what they think of it and i wouldn't want people working on my motor if they did not feel comfterble doing so.
jeff is just making things simpler. So what if IB doesn't work on H series... go find someone else.

Another 30mins of checking and double-checking isn't going to break the bank as far as labor and expenses, there is surely more to it.
"We do not have the time to diagnose problems or work on such an engine"

Bottom line is they want to stick with what they know and do best; B-series.
I know Jeff will tell us otherwise, though.
Thats a very interesting fact.. I would have never thought that about such a reputable place such as Import Builders would rule out working on One particular motor...
Us H guys are like the bastard red headed step childern in the honda world.
i understand am sorry but i hate h22's if there not all motor
80% of all turbo h22 don't make power worth talking about
90% of all h22's break ringlandings at 8-10psi with in a year
really how many h22 street cars on this board make good
maybe 2 at most
ill never turbo a stock h22 in no car i have had a few come back to me saying i fucked up

I know where they're coming from on the h22's. I don't like building them either. The thing is, when you specialize in one particular thing, you get really good at it and become very efficient at working on them. I can build a b series motor with no service manual because i've done so many of them and know the torque specs. by heart. If you have more than enogh business to keep you busy doing what you specialize in, why bother with stuff you would rather not work on?
