Default Taking off your CAT

This sucks. I relaly like the way most Preludes and Accords sounds (nice n deep), but I just put on a test pipe, to hopefully gain a few mph at the track, but now my car sounds like a typical "honda ricer". Just to let anyone know, after you gut your cat, it sounds like crap. I have the nasty raspyness. I hate it, but it has got me quite a few more races! yeay!

i think that weedwhacker noise is part of the break-in period. I have a friend that put a random technologies race cat on her accord.. was buzzy for few weeks then it settled back into its smoother tone. so..put some miles on it.

did you have to do anything to your O2 sensors to put in your test pipe?

No offense, but only typical Honda ricers will gut their cats

Gutting your cat is very stupid, the catalytic converter when gutted, becomes very turbulant and will sound like crap. Meaning poor power and sound.

If you insist on running without catalytic converting effects, buy a testpipe for $30-40. You will make more power, probably won't sound as bad, AND you'll have a perfectly good EXPENSIVE stock cat left over.

Umm, Mike95lude, you not only just sounded like an a$$ , but looked like it too. I said in my post "I put a test pipe on". I personally did NOT want to take off the cat, but I wanted a little more power. If you knew what you were talking about, you would know that by taking off the cat, you usually gain approx 2 mph on your 1/4 mile time. Oh, adn if you met me, you wouldn't think I'm a typical honda ricer, and i don't hang out with many, bc I personally am not a big fan of hondas.
I am putting on miles, thank you for letting me know about the break in period. I really hope it does that on my car too, b/c I thought I was going to cry. I loved the way my car sounded. But there's definately more power now, I did a few other things too so that helps. I actually am starting to get used to it, b/c I am getting sooooooo many more races now than I ever did, and I love it (I now have many kill stories to tell).

hey Flh22chic...i think he was more directly referring to lildrgn when he was talking about the cat and everything. He also endorsed the use of a test pipe (which you obviously did).. you should probably chill..

I wouldn't call it rice.....It comes down to this, either it'all about all show and no GO
or it's for being competitive, last minute mod for a quicker time at the track

If I had a choice to run my car open header, I'll do it...but then again why do it.

Break down, spend $90 for a carsound 2.5" HF cat. I like the way my Greddy SP sounds with it.

Sorry, I lazily read your post, I saw gutted cat in there and had to say something. I'm a nice guy too, very nice in fact. I just think "gutting" the cat is a very stupid thing to do and I'm going to say so...in hopes of preventing people from doing it

ok if you want to hear loud, my friend with a 89 RX-7 couldn't wait for the N1 catback backorder to work out, so he got the N1 and had the shop install that (only other thing in it's exhaust path is a race cat). All I have to say is thank god that thing *IS NOT* gutted. Those cars are so damn noisy, which I guess in part can be attributed to the fact it has no valves and runs really hot and rich
