Getting new clutch installed this weekend, can the OEM Throwout bearing be used again?
heya, ever since my b16a2 was swapped..the clutch has always slipped (i know its dumb but it would never chirp even 2nd) so I have pieced together a turbo kit and bought a nice clutch
(ACT HD PP w/ 6puck racing disc
)
so my question, is when the clutch is off..can the mechanic that is doing the clutch install (i don't have the tools or jacks i should say, or the time really
) use the OEM throw out bearing with the new clutch? or could I get one from a dealer for cheap? (i need a clutch alignment tool, what kinda/size/model do i get?? are they car specific?)
thanks in advance!,

If you bought the whole package from ACT, it should include the clutch alignment tool for your car. Altho, there are times when you can opt not to buy it (ie: Massimo Performance). The tools are spline number- and size-specific.
I always prefer OEM Honda stuff, unless I know it's the same stuff.

i am asking would it be okay to use the same bearing over?
the clutch alignment tool didn't come with because the box was opened, (bought from mike from motormatrix.com)
thanks,
mike

It would be a good idea just to use a new t/o bearing. Who knows, the one you have now might go bad say 3 months after the install... then you are stuck with the hassle of dropping the tranny and having to replace it. A new t/o bearing shouldn't cost more than $40 from the dealership. As for the clutch alignment tool, you can get them at any auto parts store for a couple of bucks. Good luck with the install.
Definitely replace the bearing. They're cheap insurance... would you like to have to pull the transmission again just to replace that one piddling thing?

You can reuse all the old bearings but I or any one who has dropped a tranny before wouldn't recomend it. I fyou got the clutch alredy whats another bearing or two. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
