Which Clutches Have Chatter?
My HDSS had chatter when I first started to break it in. I got my flywheel resurfaced and everything, but after 500miles it broke in and feels just like stock with a slightly heavier pedal.
can someone explain what exactly chatter is?

it feels like violent wheelhop.

Does this hurt anything or just signal less-than-optimal clutch performance? Ie, should I keep it floored when this happens or back off like a pansy?

Once the clutch is engaged you can stomp on it and it doesn't matter. The key to clutch life is to keep the rpm's at what they would be when the clutch is engaged (rev-matching). Throttle doesn't matter nearly as much as rpm's when the clutch is concerned. If you want to prolong the life of your clutch let it out fast at low rpm's and then punch it and also when you downshift rev-match before the clutch engages.
So is clutch chatter a noise or just the feeling of the vibrations?
