3-2-1 header? wtf?
I just talked to a guy I am considering buying a CRX from. This will be my first CRX mind you. Apparently, they guy CUT one of the "tubes" off his DC Sports header morphing it from a 4-2-1 header to a 3-2-1 header. Why? To make the car louder. So my question is this: other than this "mod" the car considering the price is a very good deal. How loud is this thing gonna be? Ive heard open header cars before and christ... its unbearable. Will it be that loud? And is this going to cause any problems with the car until I can replace it?

so basically one cylinder is dumping exhaust straight out? not connected to exhaust or anything?
an engine has 4 exhaust ports
theres no way in hell u can have a 3-2-1 header.. specially a DC sport...
4-2-1 stands for 4 cylinders ports into 2 and then into one
theres no way he did that .. unless one port its just open and the engine its ******* loud as **** without any power...
if he has a 3-2-1 then he swaped the engine for one of those Ford Sprit 3 cyl engines

it sounds like a farting lawnmower....could make you deaf riding around in it. i had a friend who had a cracked dc header in his teg and it sounded just like that
i would assume that there would be a greater risk of crap getting into the combustion chamber... even though the piston forces exhaust out, what if the motor is not running and that cylinder is left on the exhaust stroke...
If he cut one of the tubes off at the engine, that one cylinder could very easily develop bent valves (if it doesn't allready) when you shut off a warm engine with a very short / no exhaust cold air can rush up into the head causing it to cool too quickly and warping parts.
that engine could have big problems!! be careful.
-OR-
he has no idea what he's talking about and cut further down the exhaust, meaning you're a quick weld from everything being fine.
