Default Low dyno numbers. Got questions...

Ok here's the situation. I started with the car in the signature and I took it to the shop to have the following installed:

Apexi VAFC
Apexi Rev/Speed meter
AEM cam gear
AEM fuel rail & regulator

This is what I already had:

AEM CAI
DC 4-2-1 ceramic
Greddy cat-back
No-name hi-flow cat converter

I went to the dyno after the installation of the vafc & other accessories and have the slips saying my max power is 93 actual hp. They claim the hp before they tuned it it only had 87. What in the name of auto accessories does this mean? My motor bone stock should have 145hp take away what ever for the automatic tranny. I just don't get it.. Can someone help me out with an explanation.

those 145HP you are claiming are at the flywheel (factory rating) and at your wheels should be about 20% less, so that sounds about right, besides, where do you get your engine should be 145hp? if is a F22B1(EX) or F22B2 (LX, DX) should be less than that, what type of engine or wagon do you have?

Honda lists their f22b1 vtec engines at 145hp stock. Or maybe I've been mistaken. Never the less I thought it should have been more for the simple fact that on the street I've driven maxima's and other v-6's and such and can tell the difference but not for the numbers to have been "that" low. You telling me stock my car was less then a hundred horses?

P.S. with a 20% power loss making only 87hp I would have had to start with 109hp. And what about the accessories?

Stock in good condition.. you should see about 120 hp to the wheels. With the mods you listed... you should be a little higher than that. How many miles on the motor and what kind of condition is it in ?? You have an auto... so that would make a bit of a difference on your rating. My 5-spd VTEC bone stock w/ 30,000 miles had 121 HP to the wheels.. but everycar is different.

My baby's in good condition with 150,000 miles on her and no major problems. (a little oil leak due to valve cover gasket). I take good care of her though.

and remember that the auto tranny is hard to dyno
manual cars are put in 4th gear cuz they are close to the 1:1 ratio (that is engine to tranny) but on autos is harder

what's your vtec setting for the VAFC..? that could be factor but that's my guess... i hope the shop did some dyno runs with several different vtec engagement points... cause the vtec setting for na accord is different than a turbo'd accord... i think na accords seem to like lo-hi 3500 and hi-lo 3400... i dunno what to tell you... go turbo-hehe... i'm auto too and making 160 hp at 6 psi, 180 hp at 8 psi...

I'd do a compression check with numbers that low.

if the shop did a dyno w/ a low gear (1st or 2nd) that translates into more power loss thru the tranny I believe.

Stock 94 DX manual with I/H/E and 70,000 miles:

125hp
142ft/lbs of torque

I dunno what is up with your ****, perhaps the auto tranny loves robbing HP?

they are across the ocean!!!

The A/F was on the 13.1:1 side I remember. Very Flat, normal looking curves.

How did you get those numbers with a non-vtec motor and only I/H/E ?

because f series motors are very plugged up from the factory and they respond to bolt ons as well as any other honda motor

Hmmm... 130 HP/139lbs.ft at the crank stock.. 70,000 miles on motor... figure 100 hp/109lb.ft (if the motor was new) to the wheels... so ... I/H/E gave him 25 whp/33 lbs.ft to the wheels ?? uh... ok.

just now saw this thread. that sucks dude.

i agree with the other guys, do a compression check, because it cant be up to par.

also the auto tranny may need a good flush and refill job. it is mainly the cause of the low numbers.
and about the dyno-ing technique, i believe that auto tranny's in D3 have about the same 1:1 ratio. did he pull the numbers from you running in that gear?

the wierd thing was that when I ran a 55 shot of ZEX, the #s went from 125hp -> 166hp and 142ft/lbs -> 174ft lbs.

That was with a 10.6:1 ratio, I used an SAFC to dial the fuel down -5% across the board to achive
175hp
194ft/lbs of torque

Then I concluded that nitrous sucks and it was time for a t3rb0.
