Nebody using b16 head bolts on their Ls/Vtec?
I've heard that they are shorter than the GSR bolts and might strip or something like that. I just want to know if it is fine using b16 head bolts on a LS/VTEC?
B16 head bolts are too short, you will need to order the LS or GSR head bolts...you can upgrade to ARP head studs if you choose to. Summit Racing has them for around $110 shipped next day.

I use GSR/ITR headstuds over the B16A. The GSR/ITR studs are slightly larger (aprox 1/8") than the B16A studs. I've had no problems. I have heard that the VW 1.8 head studs will work as well...I've not looked at them so I'm not sure how their legth compares to the others.

b16a bolts are about 1/4-1/2" shorter. you dont get the proper thread engagement
and run the risk of stripping the threads out of the block

considering the dealer charges about 65-70 $ for new head bolts and in the matter of i'm all for oem upgrades but the advantage of studs in the block by arp are so much better for the x-tra 40 bucks go ahead buy the arp you won't be sorry you spent the money... i've done the arp studs and i'm more comfortable knowing they hold the head down even better than the stock remember to check for bolt stretch.

only two of the ls head bolts are too long, all the others are the same.the two in the middle of the head ,intake side and exhaust side, are the ones that are longer than the others
we use b16a they work just fine, b16 and LS are the same . except LS uses 2 longer ones in the middle. never compared gsr & itr to b16 or LS
b16a bolts are about .25-.5" shorter than b18c bolts and should be the same difference
when compared to LS bolts as well(except for the middle two). If you use these
you run the risk of stripping the threads out of the block.

This is what I have seen, in terms of difference between the B16A and GSR/ITR studs.
The top stud is the newest B16A head stud.
The bottom stud is the newest for the GSR/ITR application.
