Autocrossing.....
I went to my first autocrossing event this past weekend....... the conclusion from it is that my driving skills suck....... and the shocks in my car do to........ the most surprising thing was that I was in the same class as the focus SVT and the sentra SE-R ....... doesn't seem correct to me but anyway......
the focus was making 55 second runs and the sentra 58..... i on the other hand was owned .... 65.
..... and on the last try i spun out,,,,,,,,
What do you people think???
By the way I will be attending all other events in order to get to be at least a decent driver.....

that and my car is gutten with a CF hood. so i guess i am light and ****. but have a stock motor? it has to do with a lot of ****. if you have rims, tire, struts spring, race seats, its all matter and they put you in different classes that way. so yeah. have fun

Practice practice practice....
The great thing about AutoX is that your times can improve without spending too much money, and stock cars can be very competitive...
Just keep doing it... I can gaurantee your times will improve. Also try and get someone experienced to go passenger and give you tips

what class did they put you in? what mods do you have done? what tires and stuff do you have? i'm in SM2, so don't complain to me about classes unless you are in SM2 with me.. i'm taking on Mcoupes and roadsters along with vettes on R compound tires.. i'm used to being beat by about 3-4 seconds, but i'm not on race tires, just street. so i should be able to cut a couple of seconds off my time this year..
also, for autox setups, consult resource.crx.org autocross section.. also, on honda-tech try the roadrace/autox. forum...

Correct me if Im wrong fellas, but isnt a bone stock CRX in D class? Then once you alter the suspension or rim size it "jumps" to CSP? (C class, street prepared)
I ran CSPT ( C class, Street Prepared, Street tire) for years before and the competition was a little tough with the newer cars. Remember Im still driving around with a decade old car. I still manage to take home some victories.
Then when i swapped in a B-series motor, all hell broke loose. Now Im up against the "big dogs". I got to run race compound tires now, no choice. I cant wait till this upcoming season!!

The CRX Si used to be in D Stock, but it was recently moved to G Stock. (Heck, for a little while there, the original CRX Si was in A Stock!) Honestly, the 1988-'91 CRX Si could be one of the top cars in the class. Other cars in the class may have more power, but the light weight of the CRX is a major advantage. Concentrate on your driving--vs. getting too bogged down with car setup--and I bet you improve. I used to run an '88 CRX Si, and that's an awesome, awesome autocross car.

Don't get upset if you are new to the sport. Get someone experienced with a similar car to ride with you a couple of times. Once you get used to the CRX you will love it.
I drive a 91 CRX Si as well in GS. The fact that we race against SVT's and VW 1.8T's and Infinity G30 coupes shouldn't phase you. It doesn't phase me. Locally, my competition is a boat load of Neon ACRs.
DON'T BLAME YOUR CAR.
Attend an Evolution Performance Driving School before you spend a nickel on your vehicle.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: You can put $500 into this driving school and drop about 10 seconds, or you can put that money into your car and drop a tenth.
It's up to you. Be smart. Stay stock.

Yeah, more seat time will help your skills. Also, sometimes the mix of cars in an autocross class is interesting, but there is a method to the madness. Right now, G Stock is one of the most varied Stock classes, including everything from your CRX Si to the V6 Camaro. Performance-wise, think of it as the place for quick FWD cars except the Integra Type R: Sentra SE-R, Neon, VW GTI, Mazda MX-6/Probe GT, Celica, SVT Focus, Integra GS-R, Civic Si and so on, with a few RWD cars and the Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS thrown into the mix. A lot of them used to be in D Stock, but that class got pretty quick thanks to the Type R, WRX and IS 300. Even the Cooper S couldn't keep up, and it has been moved to G Stock.
If I didn't run STS, G Stock would be tempting, mainly because the fields around here are so healthy. However, my co-worker has a nationally competitive G Stock car ('94 Celica ST), so he'd always kick my butt.
