Y8 intake manifold for mini-me?
My friend and I both have mini-me's. He has a Y8 head, A6 everything else. What will we have to do to put on the Y8 intake manifold? We're also planning on converting the car to OBD1 (Z6 ecu and dist)
thanks
thanks
Bolt it on... use the Y8 throttle body, extend some of your wiring harness to reach the plugs on the throttle body... also, you need to pull the IAT sensor out of the A6 manifold and mount it in your intake tubing. y8 manifold has no IAT, so you'll need your old one.
EDIT: get a M/T intake manifold, it's the most similar to the A6 one... A/T versions have the iacv mounted on the throttle body.... also for the throttle cable bracket you will have to flip the Y8 one upside down, or fabricate another bracket. I just flipped min upside down on my Y8 swap.

Everything is plug and play for the sensors. Had to add the IAT sensor to the intake tube (thank goodness for zip ties) to test it. The only problem is with a Cold air intake its about 2''s too short had to ghetto rig it.
Sorry, I have no pics...
The wiring, if I remember correctly, plugs right in with no modification... just need to extend the wires. This is a very basic procedure.
Mr. S-
thanks for the info
thanks for the info
EDIT: You are using an Si throttle cable right?

You have to drill and tap the automatic to accept the IACV. The automatic on the Throttle body IACV is oblong and uses 3 pins and wont work that way. The M/T uses the same 2 pin round connector and just plugs in. If you can machine it and rework it correctly it will work but if in doubt get a M/T intake
Forgot to mention: you're converting to OBD-I? If you still have the Y8 distributor and injectors lying around, you can use those.
zCivic - Thanks for the additional info
all the help is greatly appreciated. I can't get any answers from the crx resource board
Mr S. - Just have to find a ECU and harness adapter
I did. Better yet, splice the P28 plugs directly into the factory harness if you can't afford to buy one (that way it won't fall apart like mine did).I believe Blown90Hatch is having a group buy though.
And you're quite welcome for the help... maybe you can help me someday
