What compression would i have with CTR or ITR pistons in my LS
I'm getting new pistons eventually and i was thinking about ITR or CTR pistons, what CR would i have w/either of those? and what exactly does overbore mean? like, what are the advantages of gettin overbored pistons?
Most websites say CTR are around 12.2 or 12...I'm not to sure about Type R's prolly somewhere around high 10's maybe low 11's IF JDM Not to sure...Try searchin on Google or Yahoo about CTR Pistons on LS blocks, prolly get some good answers and different opinions!

Do you have a VTEC head??? will the pistons work with an LS head...?
already did em for ya..hear ya go...
-CTR PISTONS- (PCT)
LS head = 11.40:1 CR
B16 head = 11.97:1 CR
GSR head = 12.27:1 CR
-ITR PISTONS- (JDM)
LS head = 10.80 CR
B16 head = 11.31 CR
GSR head = 11.57 CR
These are all with B18 deck height and OEM gaskets...

just checkin...Higher compression is better right?...and yeah still wondering about my previous question...
when putting these type of new pistons in..what else would you need to do?

youll need new piston rings of course... and if you have a high mileage motor... you might as well replace all the bearings ...

well i got 35,2XX on my 99 ls...so i preety sure i wouldnt need to replace bearings..but anything else besides the rings? it just seems so easy...what kinda HP gains should i be looking to get if i go CTR pistons? thanks for helpin this newb
thanks for the info guys, and can anyone tell me about over bore pistons? any advantages to using them over standard ones?
how many miles on you block? is your block in good condition? if it is then your probably wont need to bore it..maybe you can get away with just re-honing it...."OverBoring" is making the the diameter of the cylinder walls wider then standard (81mm for honda B-series)..."OverBored" OEM Pistons are wider the then standard Pistons(i think its 81.2mm i also heard 81.25mm so not sure now)...you wanna overbore when you mess up your cylinder wall a little..like put a nice deep gash in it from a blown ring or something...if you dont know what OverBore is then you probably* dont know what honing is either (no offence)..."Honing" is basicaly sanding or resurfacing then cylinder walls to prep it for new rings (new pistons = new rings)..if the cylinder wall isnt honed then it would be too smooth and not hold oil well to keep the rings oiled....advantages..? slight increasment in volume..but not enough to do anything good for you...disadvantage..if you mess up your block afer that..then youll either need a new block or get aftermarket pistons with a 82mm bore.......
yea i prety much knew what boring and honing was, i just didn't know if using over bored pistons would have any advantages over standard ones. and my block has about 84,000 miles so it should be in prety good condition.
compression = power man , i dont knwo how much , but deff worth doing if your going with an all motor or nitrous set up
I have heard some way to tell like, for every 1/10th c/r increase = 1% hp increase. I dont know if that is correct, cam someone confirm or deny???
