Okay the short version:

Because of SEPT 11th 2001...most manufactures had ramped back
on production and release of equip(..all but one PIONEER..) more than
usual...which lead to many drastic shortages of product ( if you look back
in '02 many popular products were in short supply and many retailers
had holes in walls or long backlogs)....thats it in a nutshell.

whats going to be different about the 915 from the 911.
Well for starters:

7" fully motorized screen
Sirius and HD radio ready
Built in 5.1 audio processing for-
Dolby Digital/Dolby Pro logic II/DTS/DVD audio
Internal amplification for 5 speakers(including center channel)
minature detachable faceplate as well as programmable security code.
Redesigned on screen navigation for dvd playback.

This should wet your appetites...for now....Look for it in April
I have seen it ....sweet unit.

sounds like a badass unit.. i currently have the alpine cva-1005 w/ the apn dva-5205 and i was lookin at the specs of the new ivac900 coming out soon along w/ the ken 915... a couple of friends will take the cva1005 and dvd player off my hands for a good price.. what unit do you think is a better unit?? both will have indash dvd(alpines first year of doing this), screen, etc... i have always been a fan of alpine cause of the great quality and features, but kenwood excelon has always been badass as well..

Even though I work at Circuit City, I got friends at Good Guys. Rumor is they have a 915 on display at the Tustin store.

I am still waiting for /////Alpine's product....with its new VIVID screen
the resolution is supposed to blow away the comp. I was never really a fan
of the gimmiky "touchscreen" by kenwood...it seems that the bar has been raised
by thier competitors...Panasonic,Eclpise.etc. We will have to see.

i just saw one today at product training, they are badass!!! it also has a mini display on the bottom of the face which is basicly big enough to show the clock while the screen is up. it is FULLY motorized and instead of all those wires that run from the screen to the "brain", it is only 2 din cables connecting them now. it also has dual zone listening so you can listen to one thing up front and something else in back. the alpine 1.15 million pixel screen owns as far as picture quality! it offers 3 video inputs and 3 seperate video zones (indash and 2 headrests, all different video and sound all done with the sorce unit).
