Lighting problems
I posted a topic about this a couple days ago, but cannt seem to find it now.. Anyways i went to change my back up lights, when i put 1 in everything was fine, but when i put the other in my back up lights stopped working as did my tach, clock, blinkers, tail lights, fuel gauge, temp gauge.. I checked the fuses and they all seemed fine, any idea's?
Thanks again...
Thanks again...
my old '88 rex did the same thing, the taillights stopped working and i was never able to find a short or any kind of electrical fault. bulbs were fine, fuses were fine.
I hate to point out the obvious, but did you check all the fuses under the hood? also, how did you check them? With a meter (or test light) or just visual inspection? (just because a fuse "looks" good doesn't mean it is)
That many things going at once seems like a main fuse (one of the big-uns under the hood) to me.

Well i replaced alllllll the fuses, and i guess that wasnt the problem, didnt help anything anyways.. I was messing around by the tail lights, and i took the cover off that hides the back up lights, and i noticed a wire that was grounded to the car, but the other end wasnt connected to anything, could that be the problem? Anyone know where it connects?
If it looks like it's grounded there with a bolt, then it's suppossed to be there. But if it's a wire that's been rubbed of it's protective covering, and hitting bare metal, just put some electrical tape over it.

a disconected ground like the one you're describing could be the cause of taillights not working, but not things like clock, etc like you were describing above.
when you went through your fuses, did you check the 3 main fuses? the 3 big ones circled in the pic below? that many things dying at once makes me think it's one of these....
