Default Question about Camshafts

What is the difference between intake camshafts, and exhaust camshafts? I did a search, and couldn't figure it out.

One controls the exhaust and one controls the intake.

One has a notch on the end of it (I believe this one is the intake, could have it backwards). I'm not sure... I really can't remember

Can you get an intake and exhaust camshaft for an SOHC? What are the gains like when you get both?

SOHC means single cam.

The best thing to do is get an aftermarket cam which is cut to achieve the type of performance you want.

Or you can get a custom ground cam

SOHC Stands for Single Overhead Cam, thus it only has one cam, I'm not a D series guru so I can't help ya out bud. But just wanted to let you konw you are only going to be dealing with a single cam.

SOHC means single overhead cam. Which means there is only one cam, so no you can't put both a intake and exhaust cam in a SOHC.

Edit: lol wow we all jumped on that one.
