Default Need passenger side rear re-painted...here's why

WTF is causing the rear to start getting trash (ie...exhaust leftovers) in my clear coat...I've tried everything to clean it out of the paint but its not coming out...I dont want to have to re-paint my rear bumper and hatch...what is causing my exhaust fumes to stain my paint?????

Try an abrasive wax...btw, I dont believe there is any clear coat on any of the Type R's...could be wrong about the 98's, but I know there is no clear coat on my 2001.

no, there is no clear coat on yellows. Use a white cloth and apply some mothers wax and watch your cloth turn yellow. As far as i have seen, all Yellows (mine included) get a nice coat of engine *** on the back of the car. Here is what i do: when i wash, i spray castol purple cleaner on the back, it dissolves the soot off the back, i rub it real quick with my wash mitt and then hose it off. After every wash, i then use turtle wax 2000 poly wax (just on the back) it keeps the buildup down and makes it much eaisier to wash the crap off. I use Gold Class on the rest of the car. Note: i also use 2000 on the rims to keep the Hawk brake dust from eating the paint off the Guns

If you talk to some body shops, they swear the ITR has a clear coat

if you add some clear coat, it may add some extra unwanted weight , no they don't have. A PY ITR came in our body shop the other day, the paint tech noticed it didn't have clear coat on it and wanna us to find out. What we found out was it had some other type of clear coat on it or whatever Honda was trying to us over the phone.

Too weird to say, but I can't wait to see when finish.

I hope this clears up some confusion..... Type R's, from what I have heard, are painted in Japan, where they use an enamel based paint(i.e. no clear coat). Thats why, when you buff your car, the cloth turns yellow. If any of you Type R guys have ever tried to get your PY color matched in the US, its imporrible becuase enamel is not sold here. We only use clear coat. Enamel fades faster and is more prone to rock chips becuase it isn't as smooth. I may be wrong, but I have talked to numerous paint shops about this matter.
