hey all, why does my 1990 crx si have a 1500 engine on it? I was checking insurance quotes from Progressive, and it showed only the 1991 had the 1.6, is this true? all 88-90 crx Si's had a 1.5? any replies would be appreciated

 

uhhhhhhh I think mabey you got a problem, when did you get the car? And if its only a 1.5l it aint an si motor. Is it MPFI or DPFI? It will say on your intake manifold. Mabey someone replaced the motor before you got it with a dx motor. Or mabey even a hf?

 

its all gunked up there, so i don't know about the swapped issue. but on progressive insurance site, it only listed the 91 having the 1.6??

What is the engine code? A Si motor is a D16A6.

 

from 88 - 91 all honda civic/crxs si models came with a 1.6l SOHC. It should be pretty simple to clean up the part where the code is if you know where to look. Try using Simple green to clean off the oil with a rag. if it says D16a youve got an si motor, if it say D15, youve got a dx, not sure what the HF motor code is, youd have to ask the one of the CRX guys, I dont know anything about that motor.

Basicly it sounds like progessive dosnt know better or just a typo on there site. There not right, we are.

If it's MPFI, it's either HF or Si. If your valvecover says 8Valve Honda then youve got a 62HP HF. If it's 16Valve Honda, youve got 108HP Si.

Judging for the shape of the Block its a B series motor, and since your user nane is Built B16A, I'm going to safely assume its a B16

This sounds kind of fishy. But so you know the insurance shouldn't be that much different. Mine is only 130 every six months, and on my DX it was 125 bucks.

 

d16a6 = si
d15b6 = hf
d15b2 = dx
