H23 EF Installation, what is all needed (AUTO)? Technical read...
Alright guys, I've searched and searched, and searched. All I've been able to find is Understeer, handling, Who Make Mount kits, I've heard its a hard swap, I've heard, My fiend, My friends cousin in Cali, and so on. I need technical info, so please if you don't have technical info to HELP me with the project please don't respond. Sorry to start off harsh, but I don't need people's opinions, I just want to get this done.
Now the stock D15 in my 91 EF SEDAN (auto), decided to to take a **** on me. I wasn't intending to turn my Sedan into a racer or do a serious swap. But stranger things happen. I'm no stranger to swapped Civics and CRXs, I had a B18A CRX Si, and had it up until last summer (had to sell due to baby). So I know what Swapped EFs are capable of, and Love helping friends out with their swaps. Now All my friends who do swaps like to blow their engines up before swapping, and the local salvage yard wants $350 for a D15 out of a 93 CX, so there goes the idea of a stock replacement. No I like to mess with everything, so if the opprotunity presents itself, I can change my mind. Now a friend of mine just swapped his 92-93 (H23) Prelude AUTOMATIC, for a H22a with Manual.
Now this is where I need the Technical info. Now I've heard most (ALL) people who do the H22-H23 swap go with a Manual Tranny setup, whether its in an EF or the newer Civics. Now I'm as different, as different can be, and try to strive to be outside the box. My EF is an AUTOMATIC, and if I were to swap an H23 in, I could deal with the Auto Tranny. Would also really help with the Sleeper approach. Now the question is I know of mount kits and all, but I've never heard of anyone swapping an H-series with an Auto Tranny. Now the Tranny itself LOOKS to be Bigger than the Manual. so would it (auto tranny setup) fit in an EF Engine Bay? Now I've seen pics where some have to cut out some material on the tranny side on the bay. Now I and my friends are pretty good fabricaters so we can deal. Now we are pretty much in the planning stages right know Trying to figure out what we'll all need as far as parts, and what will all need to be done to prep the Bay, and car for the swap. Any related info and references, websites would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
