jdm b18c motors????
my friend just bought a jdm integra type r swap and the block code says b18c. i looked it up on the net and also the websites i found say that that is the equivilant to a 1996 jdm type r with 200 hp. but other sites say that a b18c is also the same as a 1996 jdm integra SIR-G which is basically a jdm gsr. now im confused. does my freind really have a 1996 type r swap or did he get ripped and get a jdm gsr swap. here are the things i can tell you about the motor.... it has the factory red valve cover, although it has monir scratches on it. and the intake manifold it a single stage manifold like the usdm type r and 2000 usdm SI'S. th reason im saying this is becuz i noticed that every single usdm gsr has a dual stage intake manifold but i dont know about the jdm SIR-G do they have dual stage manifold too or was it the just the usdm versions. also the tranny on my freinds swap is the S-80 tranny........ any help thanx guys....

Check the head, I believe it should have PR3 on it(correct me if wrong).
As far as the manifold, all GSR's have the sanil shaped manifold. Unless it has a Skunk2 manifold. But you can tell the difference from a OEM R manifold and a Skunk2 manifold if you compare the two by looks.

b18c = JDM ITR
also
b18c = JDM SiR
the blocks and engine codes are the same.
the best way to tell the difference from a glance is the intake mani, otherwise you'll need to open her up and check the pistons which are higher compression

check for LSD stamp, there should be a small amount of green style paint on behind the distributer on the head, larger TB, you can take the head off and check the codeing on the pistons, and the codeing on the cams, header will be 2.5 versus 2.25(SIR-G), and im sure there are more things Im not thinking of......
my jdm itr engine says b18c. like everybody said check the intake manifold and tb. the head code is probably pr3 like mine. checking the pistons takes a lot of time but that would be a way to tell also.
Do an archived search in this forum because I posted the SN differences last summer. The ITR engine has a slightly different serial number.
IM me the SN and I'll look it up on my parts CD.

More ITR info:
'98 spec engine SN's start with B18C-210001~ and come from DC2-1300001~ SN bodies with tranny # S80-3000001~. '98/'99/'00 SiR and SiR-G use the same frame and tranny numbering but the engine serial is B18C-1300001~.
