Help me squeeze the most HP out of the R with $1000!
So I've budgeted a grand for mods this spring on ye olde ITR. I was talking to Mr. OG Bizzle about my plans, and basically came up with this:
OEM JDM 4-1 OR DC JDM 4-1 Header
Carsound 2.5" Catalytic Convertor
Adjustable Cam Gears
Adjustable Fuel Regulator
With dynoing I figure this should put me at, around, or very close to $1000. Does this sound right? My car currently has an AEM CAI and a Apexi VAFC. These mods are pretty much all I plan to do on the car (besides getting some azenis) for the next year or so, or at least until the warranty is up. I realize I could probably get better power off a set of cams, but I'd rather save the more extreme mods for later.
Is this the best bang for the buck upgrade path right now? What kind of numbers should I expect to put down if I adjust the timing with the cam gears, tune the VAFC, etc? Also, would spending the $300 or whatever for a skunk2 or spoon n1 style axelback to me any good with the above setup? I realize that it would put me over my budget, but if the stock ITR exhaust is going to be causing me to lose power, I'd rather upgrade now and only have to dyno once.
Any thoughts/reccomendations would be greatly appreciated

DC JDM 4-1 got better results than the OEM JDM.

It is THE bang for the buck header.

I was under the impression you can squeeze 3-5 HP out of advancing/retarding your timing, what kind of an exhaust would you reccomend that would yield better results than camgears but still be in the ballpark of under a grand for the whole kit and kaboodle?

any 60mm+ exhaust should yield more gain than cam gears imo
bang for your buck . . . deff nitrous and yes it it reliable if you have a clue as how to use it and maintain it . but yes save the moeny from the amegears and get seomthing else, you can advance the ig timing to 18 degrees and that should help for a few free ponies .I got an Apexi N1 on mine and i loe it

if u ever considered it and don't mind the extra effort, you could remove your PS. i've read posts before (backed up with dyno plots) that it frees up like 5hp...
something i will try once the winter is over.

K&N drop in, JDM DC header, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, remove PS belt. Good for high 13's.

During the header test the SMSP exhaust gave minimal gains over the stock one.

Would a spoon axelback be decent? I don't really want to drop another grand on a full exhaust system at this point in time...

why bother getting an fpr when you already have a vafc?
i would dyno your car and look at a/f before buying the fpr.
