Two weeks ago I got my replacement engine and drove it very carefully.
It is a `96 JDM engine and should be of the same spec like my old `98 Euro b18c6..
Today I floored it the first time and kicked 4th to redline....
My face must have been one big question mark.. The engine is a LOT stronger than my old one. Not in midrange but vtec range is a lot more agressive.
I wonder how this could be ? I drove 5 Euro ITR`s in the past but none of them had this strong pull... Could it be the Japanese people keeping the best for their own market and export the crap ?

did you open the engine before you installed it? maybe not all the parts were stock
this happens sometimes when getting JDM engines from wreckers in Japan... sometimes the engine has extra goodies inside but no one knows. a friend of mine got a Mugen LSD and Cusco FD in his JDM B16 swap

The JDM engine need 1,5sec less time to hit limiter in 4th... (!) starting from 100km/h on.
It IS definitly stronger than the old one. It revs up faster.
The valve cover was removed to take a look... No signs of wear. A very fine engine. But stock.
Steve from Password from where I purchased the engine told me this before. He drove the car the engine was in before (it had Mugen wheels). He said this would be a very strong engine. Ok. But I did not expect such a huge difference.
I`ve seen cars of the same spec but one ran better than the other.. One needed less oil than the other... Maybe it`s just a good engine where the parts fit together perfectly and the former owner knew how to break it in and how to care...
Or maybe my old one was crap.
But my first thought really had been: Damn, they use to keep the best .... Like I would do if I had to decide what to keep and what to ship.

I'm glad that you seem to have a strong motor. However, I agree, the butt dyno can be very misleading. Take your R to the dyno and find out for sure..
Good luck..
