I've heard something about Vtec not kicking in when the engine isn't at a suitable opperating temp? Is that what you mean? I should point out, that was a B16A2 EK Civic VTI unit that applied to, not sure if its the same for an S2000 unit.

I could be wrong though.

Oh yeah. Racing a cold motor will ***** it up goodo..... so don't.

why did you even attempt to race on a cold engine?

Vtec wont engage on a cold motor, and i think it cuts fuel too at a certain rpm.

Let the engine temp reach normal operating temp.(3 bars) before revving it past 3k rpm, PLEASE!

The S has two fuel cutoffs. One right at Vtec and another at redline. The First is to prevent damage by the driver if the engine is cold. Let it get to 3 bars before getting into it!

u shouldnt even rag ur car when its cold its better with every manual car that u warm it up i always warm it up to 4 bars min if not ur gona end up with tapping valves that tit tit tit sound its horrible~~!
but u should always warm up a manual car at all times~~~!!! weather it be a S or not its good for the motor

You should warm up an auto as well (although S2K's dont come in auto...THANK GOD!!!) duh. Just because its got a slush box in the floor dosnt mean you can thrash right away! Lol!

I'm sure thats not how you meant to come accross but just incase anyone read it and thought it was okay to thrash a cold engine as long its auto tranny.

isn't the reason Honda but the limiter there because there isn't sufficient oil pressure in the motor therefor vtec cant operate. naturally the oil has way better flow when its warm/hot to flow through the passages.

how about ... ROFL

oil pressure would be the same from the moment you start the car ... if it go below the spec, the car will start to bug... if its has significantly drop, the car will shut off to prevent engine damage..

Stupidity. Blah.

Only drive your car hard when you have 3 bars on your temp gauge. I believe it also does that as a saftey precaution too when cuts off at a certain RPM so it won't F' anything up when people do that.

That is correct. Why would you race on a cold engine?
