Default Used the search, but didn't find exactly what I'm looking for: B18c6 Block

I don't know who remembers me, but I'm driving a EE9 (91 civic with B16) over here in Germany. A friend of mine has a B18c6 block that he doesn't need.

What exactly do I need to change in order to swap the block in there? I would think it would be a bolt on and I could keep the axels, tranny, etc. Is this correct?

Thanks for the input!

If your looking for some input for that motor, you should search for B18C5 or ITR engine since this is the equivalent over here.

Like Breaka told you, just swap the block in your car.The only thing that would be time consuming is the fact that the block is higher so probably the downpipe would need some adjustement.

Men I'd love to have that engine in mine....well,the block itself!(legit)

I did a search but the results were usually just whole engines or just the head.

I can use the stock internals from B18c5(6) right?

Can I still use the B16 (gen 1) tranny?

What sort of gains should I see?

I'm basically trying to compare the cost/benefit of getting an entire swap, or just swapping the block.

i would swap the entire long baclk (head and block). the b18c6 head is a better flowing head than the b16 head.

you can use your b16 gen 1 tranny, too.

Yep,keep everything from your B16(Distributor,trans,axles,)

I would think you would need to keep your flywheel or at least your clutch since the B16 trans has a smaller input shaft.

The head has better hardware inside.(Cam,spring,valves).
As for the rest, this is the same PR3 head as the B16 and the fact that the factory give just a little massage(Porting) inside the port.

But yes,keep this head!

edit:typing error

What do I need to do to the head to get good power, but still remain reliable?

Thanks for all the help!

You have to keep the Y1-tranny, there is not enough space for the S80-tranny. It will fit with easy on the B18C6-block

If you have a R-head i would use it, if not, well, make a better head than a OEM-R-head out of your B16-head headjob (port), springs an cams (Crower II are not bad, JUN II are perfekt for streetuse).

You following me?

I am not taking Crower anything after what happened to Sven.

If I just get a port and polish, would that be enough to start with?

Are there going to be 0 gains by swapping the blocks? I find it hard to believe that I wouldn't notice any power difference. Good info though!! Keep it coming,

edit: Forgot one thing. Where can I get just the ITR head?

You will need to have either the P73 ECU and do an awfull wiring job. Or you need to find a P28 or P30 ECU. Also the P73 has a built-in immobilizer and without the original starterkey it is USELESS

You will need to use the tranny mount from the ITR gearbox. Downpipe won't line up with the header but that's not a big issue.

On my site you will find the swap-problems a friend of mine encountered so I advice you to read it.

Power gains: F.e. B18c6 CRX with full interior vs B16 CRX full interior+rollcage: both Y1

highway @160kmh : B18 in IV , B16 in III -> B18 CRX pulls away!!

BTW: If you don't want the engine I will gladly take it from you
BTW2: Crower retainers SUCK ***! Complete crapp, Sven wasn't the only one

It's just the block with pistons. No head or anything else.

I will definately check out the site though. Thanks!

Get the R cams, retainers and springs and get your B16 head flowed then..

I didn't say use the crower retainers, these are crap

I use Crower stage II with schrick-retainers

If you only use the block you can keep stock ECU, if u use complete B18C6 you can also keep stock ECU, but you have to adapt the injectors and use a fuelcontroller or chip. If you want a perfect setup, use a power FC, AEM or sible.
