i wired up the SMC and im having trouble with the car runnin smooth. it smells like gas and i lowered it down to 40% and it still deosnt idle and smells strong of gas. I used to have the file to fit map limiter circut and that worked good. but i wanted to get the SMC for more tunability. Anyways. took out the file o fit chip and i tried puttin in the SMC and so far no luck. i found the SMC instructions a bit hard to work with because i counted the pin cell's in the harness and none of them matched up to his diagrams which made it hard to use. any insites >. need help asap. thank s
I had no porblems with the instructions and my idle is set at -50%. It is really hard to go to lean idling. With the wide band it was sitting aroud 15.7-16.5. It will idle around 40% but like ***!

well great, i said screw the ECU wiring, and i wired it straight to the map sensor and i gave it a power and a ground and wired the RPM signal straight to the distributor and now it deosnt even run. it wont start and it wocranked and started for a short moment then it shut off, i tried to crank it again and the starter goes off and strarts clickin like theres no tomarrow. i tried another battery thats known to be good, same thing. what the hell is going on !?!? i put on another ecu out of an HF out of the possibility that the ECU is trashed and no cashew.
Since you had file o fits circuit before, then the MAP wires are the same for the SMC+. The SMC+ will need +12V to operate instead of the previous circuit that used +5V. Make sure the SMC+ has the green LED lit up when the key in the ONII position and pulse when the motor is running. If the LED does not pulse, then the you have a bad rpm signal.

yea thers a 12 v power to the SMC, not the 5 volt signal
car wont crank over .. just keeps on clickin like thers no toamrrow

what exactly do you have?? do you have a FPR.. have you tried lowering the pressure on the FPR? What is it set to?? you did remove all fuel hack.. pull your sparkplugs, clean them and let them dry.. then try again..

Stick the filetofit chip back in there - your ignition maps are crap with the SMC as it works along the same lines as an AFC.
Pig rich at idle is a common complaint among AFC hack users... hard to go below the minimum pulsewidth on the fuel tables, which can be too big for 450cc's. I'm guessing filetofit's chip has the idle pulsewidth tweaked.... I know I set mine to the minimum 1.08 ms.

i assume you've contacted zip....he doesnt know whats wrong either?
sorry to hear you havent solved it yet
i'm going to be installing mine soon and these posts always make me wonder how well its really going to work...

One member here a while back had the same problem and he said his solution was to lower his Fuel Pressure at idle just a bit and his car idles nicely.. what is your fuel pressure at idle right now??? Why not try that..

kinda off the subject but me and a buddy were just talking and with the SMC/Hack people say they get hesitation when letting off the throttle then getting back on. So does this happen durning every shift since you let off the gas then get back on or is this only coming out of boost then going back in right away...this is a little unclear to me

I personaly have had no hesitation while shifting from first to 2nd. Sometimes into 3rd if I'm part throttle i'll get some jerking, but I haven't figured out if that is due to my being pig rich + 30K mile old wires and ungapped plugs or not, so i'm not going to say that is the SMCs fault.
I'm interested in others experineces also... bump

Just curious, why are you keep bumping without any feedback or additional information regarding your problem? Are you looking for someone to come up with the magical answer? You realize it's difficult for anyone to provide assistance without any feedback, right?

i havent hhad a chance to look at it, its not my car its my friends. Anyways im suspecting its the main PGM-FI relay and possibly a burnt out starter or starter relay, im going to check if te starters fucked by hihtting it with a hammer wile cranking.
possibly main relay because the fan used to come on when the ignition was in the on position. NOW the fan doesnt come on anymore but when i slam the trunk everything magically turns back on. I proceed to go turn the key and i get a * CLICK* and everything shuts off again fan and ignition. you can hear the starter click and not do anything.
