Default Problem with vtec after installation of skunk stage 1

I have just got my car back from the shop after installed skunk stage 1, P&P,milled head and a spoon gasket. I noticed my oil pressure reads a bit lower then before, usually is at 25 when it is idiling, but it is now at like 15...so I took the car out for a 15mins drive and decided to redline a few gears to see how the car run. When it hits vtec pt which is 5800rpm, the car hesitiated and it seems like the rpm won't go up..the rpm slow down and bounce a bit then go pass that vtec pt and on to 6000rpm. Now is that because due to low oil pressure? I checked oil level and it seems to be ok..what is the problem? I was thinking if is because I lost traction..but it doesn't seem like it to me.

maybe the o-ring is not set right it the middle cam cap. someone correct me if im wrong, but arent the o-rings in the middle cam cap and the oilers at the front of cams there for vtec. i would have these checked, your problem does not sound good! loosing oil press. is very bad. for the mods you had oil press should not be affected. its deffintly an install problem

I don`t know what causes the problem, but:

You get back your car with new installed cams and go out to redline your engine ??

Forget if you were told you don`t have to break it in again... You have to be careful with your head for the next two gas-station stops...

Regarding your vtec problem.... That sounds familiar to me.. I had the same when I installed new cams... A nasty drop right before vtec. You can see it here:

Some tuning had to be done to solve the problem.

I bought the cams used, the owner before had only about 2000km on them..And he ran them in very well because he is a freind of mine. Now I am going to get some tuning done asap, but just want to konw what is causing the oil pressure to go down?!~

No matter who broke in those cams... They have to fit to the rocker arms of your engine...
I had some cams installed which I did not break in the way I should... The end of the story: Cams fucked up and rockers too. Man, be careful with you new stuff.

Your oil pressure is another thing.... I doubt it has something to do with your problems... Vtec won`t engage at all if pressure is down.

ok , then I better take it easy..
but otherwise, what other problems will it cause the low oil pressure?

I don`t know... Your mods should not be responsible for low oil pressure...
The best you can do now: Get it back to the shop you got it from... As soon as possible.. Tell them what th problem is and see what they have to say...

For me, it`s an install problem.

There is no real way to break in cams, ive had jun III for almost 2 years redlined the dhit out of them the first day, no problems. If u have a vafc try raising your vtec crossover by a couple hundred rpms, what yoiur getting is vtec breakup, had that problem with jun III and had to raise the crossover by 200 rpms

it also can be that your vtec point can be to low for those type of cams ,
like TOda spec D requires for you to raise your vtec point other wise the car attends to bog , do to vtec kicking in to early .
Dyno the car to see whats wrong with it

Thanks guys for the tips~ I will try to raise the vtec pt a bit to see how it runs. But I still want to wait till dyno and see how it goes.
I am running JDM DC 4-1 with test pipe and 2.5 exhaust all the way under the gas tank with only one slight bend~! haven't had any scrapes yet so far, will see how this set up goes along with the cams. Dyno will be up ASAP~

You are supposed to break in a set of cams when you get them. Its not like breaking in piston rings or a clutch though. When i bought my JUN III's, on the materials included with the cams, your supposed to let the car idle for 10 minutes before revving up the engine. That is the extent of the break in period if i recall correctly. Its been a while since i've had to break in a set of cams.

Also the bog at vtec is probably to low of a vtec crossover. With my III's, i had to raise the vtec point to 6K or else the car would bog hardcore.
