Default Anyone heard of Prestige alarms?

We are looking into this car and it has a Prestige alarm. The seller claims it is worth $3-4K Canadian. And says if we don't want the alarm she will drop the price $2000. My dad is checking out the car right now in another city and I asked if there was an lcd remote with it, although he said it just has the basic functions and no display. Can you guys offer any help?

I pretty sure that the alarm is not worth that much. I bought a prestige alarm for my car on ebay for $30.00 shipped.

Avoid it.

Go with DEI alarms (www.directed.com) They make alarm such as Viper, Python, Horent, etc., There should be PLENTY of DEI dealers in Canada.

They make the best alarm at very good prices and have all the basic features standard.

Yeah I have installed a few of them. They are made by Audiovox and they are ok. I would suggest to stay with a DEI product though. Through installation experience, DEI products have less problems and more efficiency.

they are audiovox as stated earlier. they are ****, and not worth what was claimed by the person who you are buying the car from.

In my opinion ( based on 15+ years in the install trenchs) Audiovox product
is okay. I would suggest getting the car without the alarm...I mean would you
leave your car keys inside the door? Basically this is what you do when you leave
an exsiting alarm on a car...you really have know idea how many transmitters
are coded to the system.

EFsleeper....is there any product that does'nt suck? I agree that there are
products out there that do...iene piece alarms,2 wire jobbies, anything in a clamshell and my all type fave:the infomercial crap that hooked up into your
fusepanel that was out a few years ago. Not picking a fight, but everything cant be that bad.

I heard they were alright.....Recommend go with Viper....I was reading the stuff they gave me when i got mine and if someone were to break into your car and steal it....Viper would pay up to a $2000 deductable. Dont know the specifics on this. So dont ask. Have to read through the stuff again. Correct me if I am wrong. Peace..

Did it come installed on the car by the dealership? If so it was prob done by an
expiditor. Based on my pals who do this kind of work...you get paid by the car:
about $25.00 for alarm w/keyless- $50.00 for alarm/start/keyless. So you can
see speed is of the essence...you stack em,slam em,move on..mo' money.
Problems can arise ( i know from experience with my mother in laws car done
by the dealership..some much for free)...and mostly do. Keep in mind an alarm
is only good as the install....not to hate on my pals or anyone else who does
that type of install work..I got much luv for ya

Now go play nice.
