Default AEM CAI Version2...anyone tried one yet?

The last time the V2 was spoken about was a month ago with all the guessings.
One month had passed and just wondering if anyone had one installed on their car.

For $300, it's cheaper than J's and Mugen.

I am surprised none of the Tech gurus here have yet to jump on this product for a dyno attempt....

ahem: (IPS, A&J, R&D, Jeff...etc)

Hmm...why so hostile toward a new product? IMO, there aren't any good CAI for the ITR that offers performance, value and practicality.

I don't believe it's out yet, AEM themselves made a post about 3 weeks ago looking for R's in Cali to use as guinea pigs to make one for and do dyno runs with.

they've been available for other cars, they want the ITR to make one for that (fitiment, tuning the tube lenght, etc) from what i understand, not sure if that's your question or not.

I don't understand why everyone is so skeptical when none of you have tried it.

Maybe it's time to put all this BS behind and take a look at it..

Considering there are many people here who wasted money on the J's and it looks like a fat *****.. and no one is interested in AEM, which also is just as ugly.

I would be willing to buy one and give my review on it, but I have no money right now..

Sorry to quote you dude but you're right, just because AEM came out with it doesnt mean its *****.

How do you all know its crap????? Who teseted it? Who made the J's intake all high and mighty? It's just a filter on a stick. While the AEM draws cold air all the time. BTW I have neither intake, I have a Injen which is basically a AEM.

About the throttle response thing, I dont a have a problem with that, I just tighten my throttle cable. Bandwagoneers hop of the 'Big Bang" intake and show us some results.

It has been out for a while. It's deffenetly not worth the money. All it does is change around the power band. The AEM "hump" is now sooner, the Original AEM made more mid-range, and the V2 doesn't pick up over the original till around 6,500rpm. As far as peak goes the original made like 4hp over stock and the V2 made 7hp. TQ was the same thing. Big hump @ like 3,000 rpm vs. 4,500. Peak numbers go the original had a higher peak number. If I find the plot, I'll post it. It's to big. This was done on a Civic Si with the original being 2.75". Dont' know the difference on an ITR.

Intakes aren't magic anyways..

A 3-4 hp gain over the old version is enough to justify an improvement. I'd rather have this AEM V2 rather than a fat slug that pulls in hot air and supposedly only gives better "throttle response."

Actually, I think I'd rather just have the stock intake and air box back with a drop in filter.

J's has been dynoed to make 2-3 hp less than AEM. BFD

Drop in filters do nothing over stock.

some people are just closed minded about products if they aren't "jdm"
not to bash those who have the J's racing intake.. but the only thing it beats the CURRENT AEM is in throttle response.

the AEM v2 uses 2 different diameters, sort of like a chamber to hold unused air.. just like the J's racing.. hmm.. maybe AEM is trying Throttle response with actual power, unlike the J's

I think I remember seeing some dyno plots a year or two ago that hade stock, AEM, and a K&N filter. The AEM only made 1 more hp than the K&N.

But personally, I think 3hp is a waste of time and money anyway.

Your point?
Some intakes arebetter than others. Some make more power. The AEM CAI has been shown to make 2-3 hp more than the j's. It has also been reported that the J's throttle response is better than the AEM. Which one is better? I don't think two or three hp make any real world difference in the acceleration performance of a car. There are too many other varibles that would make more of a difference, IMO. Like tire pressure, traction, driver, suspension, the list goes on and on.

My point is, in my opinion, that such a small difference in dyno'd hp does not distinguish the AEM unit as better.

Nope. Don't be so sensitive.
