Default F20c vs. B18c and c5

Why does the S2000 motor ($4,000) sell for less than a ITR motor ($5,400)? Are they just trying to get rid of them because of placement in the engine bay making swaps much harder?

Maybe because the type-r motors are harder to come by because they dont make them anymore. Just a guess. =D

This is my theory:

Why is the F20C drivetrain less expensive than the B18C-R drivetrain? Because you can only use it in a St00k, so there is a relatively small market for it. (Of course, it is possible use it in other vehicles, but that requires extensive & expensive modification that not many people are willing/able to do - thus it's still a small market.) How many S2k owners are there out there? Only a handful. Even less are in the market for a new/spare engine - so they price it fairly low (compared to the actual wholesale cost of the engine) so they can sell 'em.

However the B18C-R can be used in any 4th-6th gen Civic and 2nd-3rd gen Integra easily (meaning without extensive modification required); this is a huge potential market for the engine, and guarantees good sales despite a jacked-up price. Not to mention, everybody wants one just because it's a "Type-R y0!"

Yeap, and that's the same reason you can get an sr20det for right next to nothing compared to a B18C5. It pays to be diffrent

Heh, yeah the SR20DET can be had for the same price as a B16A.

Then again, a Chevy small-block can be built up far cheaper and more easily than either of these engines. Why is import tuning so damn expensive?!
