Is 140mph possible? (with GPS or Radar gun)
Is it possible for an integra type R with all the bolt on mods to acheive 140 mph on Radar or GPS. This means not on the speedometer in the car but on an actual landspeed measuing device? Has this been done before?
i can only do 136 in my civic with jdm final drive....at 8500 rpms.....and the car goes all the way to 8500.....been in a few hype r's doing over 140.....
You guys seems to be misunderstanding the question. We have actually gone 140mph on the speedo but I want to know if any one has any proof of one of these cars going 140mph ON A RADAR GUN OR OTHER LANDSPEED MEASURING DEVICES?.
I don't mean to be a ***** but some poeple needed that clarification and I have a lot of money riding on this until I can borrow a radar gun and prove it, i just want to know if anyone has seen or done this before.

what is the type r final drive? mine is a 4.10 and with 200 hp my car is rev limited to 145 miles per hour. im sure that a type r having much less weight and same hp can do the same with the right gearing

A stock ITR comes with 195/55/15 tires and can hit fuel cut (8500 rpm) in 5th gear (0.848) with a stock final drive (4.4).
The ITR does not even need to be modified to go 140 mph.

How does out speedometer measure? I would think it would be fairly accurate..
You can solve it with simple math:
A stock ITR comes with 195/55/15 tires and can hit fuel cut (8500 rpm) in 5th gear (0.848) with a stock final drive (4.4).

But stock top speed is about 143.

u gotta understand... at speed that high your speedo is off. more error. so your not really doing 140 if the speedo says 140. the only way again like this guys is asking is by radar.

I don't think that it will be a problem to hit 140mph in a stock R using a radar gun. Just pick a colder day to run the R and it shouldn't b a problem.
I have hit an actual top speed of 155mph. I've hit the rev limiter in 5th gear with stock US gear ratios and final drive with 195/50 tires. This is the only way I know of to actually measure top speed without some external equipment. If you have an accurate way to measure your rpms you can determine your top speed.

Peak power on a stock Arr is somewhere around 8-8100 rpm, what's that come out to in 5th?
4.4 FD
0.848 5th gear ratio
23.44488188976378 tire diameter in inches (195/55/15)
8100 rpm = 151 mph

Just look at magazine articles that have used test equipment (ie GPS or Radar).
I have seen tests that ranged from 143-145.

I hit rev limiter in 5th at 8800rpm (raised limit), so I could count the numbers together:
That`s way faster than 140mph. The speedo showed more than 265km/h.
It's OK if the tach is accurate...
If the tach shows +400rpm at redline... you should have take 8400rpm to determine top speed...
Factory top speed is claimed at 235Km/h
I would like to live in Germany, I personaly hit 220 Km/h but in France, top speed
limit on the highway is 130 Km/h...and you can have BIG problems (Jail) for passing 180Km/h...

On the way to work I eased up to 80mph and the tach read 4,300rpm just as the math says it should. I know you guys are saying both are off, but if they're both pulling from different sources for their data, what are the odds they would be off by the exact same percentage to make the numbers come out right?
yup 140 no problem.
by speedo look at your itr speedo. i had the needle between the N and L of ONLY in unleaded only and it was still pulling. my rev limit was 9100rpms with that old itr motor.
oh wait..i have a photo of it on my way to that indication. sorry...don't try this...i was just a little stupid and i'm officially cured of my insanity.

Car and Driver built up an S2000 with a bunch of mods nothing crazy, just some tuning and mild porting of the head and they had what they said was about 332 crank hp and they only could get that car to do 156mph at best on the 3 mile section of the salt flats. I think a Type R would top out at about 140 at best with only bolt on mods, because the S2000 is more aerodynamic and has more power.
