I dont know what the problem is??????
ok its raining a lot here in phoenix. so im driving down the road (slow becuase of my intake)....so my car dies and i pull into this garage and i start my car and it like is having a hard time so i push the gas in and it starts up and all this white smoke came out my exhaust.
So i pop my hood look at it, nothing looks wrong. So i rev it from my engine and nothing happens but there is a little bit of smoke coming from it. it is white smokes steam...whatever....so i wait about 5 minutes and started my car up. Started up perfect.
Then im driving and hit a puddle and it dies. so i let it rest and do it over.....it starts up i come home, the drive home was perfect....i think i got water in my intake but why did it die???????

i don't know but ALWAYS change your intake when it rains. better to be safe then sorry. I have a cold air and it rain like a bitch here in california last 2 days so i just took the filter and put on the throttle body and ran it like that. but as you car dying i don;t know, maybe there is not enough air going through.
The smoke is just from it burning some water probably. Just change the intake whenever you can, and be thankful you didn't hydrolock the engine.

its a cold air intake....thanks EF9_Sir.....
I highly recommend an Air By-pass Valve from AEM. Even if your CAI isn't from them, just measure the pipe, slice, install, and be safe from water. Also, sometimes water will get under the distributor cap which will make the car lose power and sputter really bad. It will also have problems starting.
I have hydrolocked my motor. It will not start with water in the motor if you got enough in there. The water you see is probably water that entered the exhaust and is buring up inside, coming out as white smoke. Same happened to mine. If the motor still runs after getting the car out of the puddle, it should be fine.

whew....thats what i needed to hear
i was wondering though. what makes the difference if any. Is it the Filter it self or is it the piping? as in performance wise
