CRX dash... who designed this thing?
Last night I decided to pull out my climate control (broken in half and dangling back in the dash) and the piece that holds the radio with the pocket in it and replace them. Got the pieces for fre so thought I should use them.
Everything came out alright, but how in the crap are you suppose to put that climate control back in?
I pulled out the upper middle vents so I could hook up the cables, got one in place, the other I couldn't get into the cradle. Once everthing was hooked up almost right I went to put the climate control back in place... how are you suppose to do this? I ended up bending the metal piece with pliers to I could fit the control in place, then bending the metal back into shape to screw it in place.
Anybody got any tips in case I have to do this again, or someone else reading this will ever have to do it?
BTW-My dash is all back together with a working, non-broken in half climate control, and a radio/pocket piece that does not have holes in it from where someone once had an EQ in there or something. It looks sooo good, should be a good selling point.

That's actually the only way I've ever heard of anyone replacing the climate control, by bending those metal deals you were talking about. As long as you bent it back, I wouln'd worry.
When it was designed, the designers probably didn't count on some kids with these same cars 15 years down the road stressing over the climate control being broken (or that it would break in the first place).

I haven't looked at the section in debate because my climate control is actually in one piece, but it might have been put in from the rear there seems to be quite a bit of room from behind.
the only way that i saw to do it when i replaced mine was to either remove the whole dash and put it in from the backside or bend the tabs. i found bending the tabs to be fairly easy.
I put mine in from the rear, It's a pain in the *** you just have to turn it funky ways and it'll go... Good Luck
My interior looks nice now, non broken climate control, pocket without holes in it made from a soldering iron, clean of all dust, plus I took off those Razo pedals and put on new rubber oem style pedal pads.

I found it kinda easy to line it up and push it in from the rear. I had a buddy direct me from the front, and hold it while I plugged everything up.
I think this is the easiest way, if you can find someone to help you.
