Default HID questions for HID gurus

okay i did this a while ago, but could not come up with an answer so help me out guys

i bought a used HID system for my teg which has the D2R bulbs. so i went ahead and scraped the ceramic off to convert it into a D2S bulb. It worked great. Now after installing everything and plugging everything in, i turned on my head lights, and nothing. No light, no spark, no weak shine....no NOTHING. What's wrong here guys? What's defective? i know for sure it is not my wiring. I checked the fuses (headlight fuses and the HID system's relay fuses) and they were all good.

How do you go about diagnosing the problem to see if it's the bulb, ballast, or wiring? I'm pretty sure it's the bulb or ballast b/c the wiring is pretty straight forward and i'm sure i wired it up right.

help me out guys

no.. if they're hooked up backwards, you wont get power.. if they're hooked up the right way, you will..

you best chance=transfer to a friend's car and see it, you can also test it with an auto jumpstart battery.

if it still dont work, take everying apart and them put it back together piece by piece.
I think i have a diagram with my Hella hid kit, I'll post it up upon your request, just im me

maybe you blew your fuses.. without seeing your whole setup, i dont know what u could have done wrong.. HID is plug n play.. so i dont see why you'd have any problems..

the guy sell me the hid kit showed me how to install it, he used the batter jump starter thing..hook it up the ground wire and turn on the light.
He use some copper wire go thought the 12v stock 9006 bulb wires.

oh.. i never dealt with those relay kit wiring harness things with my integ.. i just used a universal 9006 connector with pins and plugged the pins directly into my stock socket, upgraded the fuses to 20A and it was all good.. no way you can go wrong there..

the HID needs a higher amperage initially, so the 10A fuses just blow after like 3 seconds.

Yeah, the 1st time I turned on my HID's they didn't even come on. I immediately changed the fuses and it's been fine ever since then.

SSPB DC2 - My ballasts had a green wire and a black wire, apparantly they were switched and I was putting the green to positive and black to negative. Nothing worked. Except when I touched the ballast against the frame of the car it shocked!

I switched the wires and plugged green into negative, and black into positive and I had light.

Make sure both of your fuses are 20A (Left + Right). I had that problem yesterday. 10A just simply doesn't let enough power run through. Only one of my headlights were running when I had 10A in both L + R.

And remember, DONT turn on your headlights when ballasts is attached with NO bulbs in the socket, that will blow another fuse! lol. I've done it yesterday!

GL bro.

BTW, if you can take a picture of your ballasts so we know what it is.

Turning on the ballasts w/o bulbs can fry the ballasts.

You need at least 20A fuses. I put one of my bulbs and ballasts in my mom's Avalon just for the heck of it, and it blew the 15A fuse immediately so I know those are too small.

I turned on my ballast and it didn't fry it. Just blew the fuse. That's the point of the fuse.

My kit works fine with stock fuses. Do some kits require more voltage?

well my ballasts & bulbs are probably okay but the wiring is messed up (hasn't been cut or altered, that's the odd part) i don't want to do anything to this system so if some1 wants it i'll sell it for $150 shipped. Hopefully some1 will get a HID system for 150, that is if they can get it to work. It worked on the previous owner's car before he removed it in my presence.
