well, in the instructions, they tell you to rotate the rear shocks 180deg, so the weld nut faces the rear of the car. then, the endlink bracket mounts to the side of the shock w/o the nut (facees front of the car)
you can kinda see what i'm saying in this pic:

on the 4th gen civics i think the new bolt for the endlink bracket is differant. i have to gove the instructions a look again, but i remember watching this being cone on a crx and i think the weld nut had to be cut off. but im not sure.

Spence,
I tried every configuration I could think of and it wouldn't fit using the existing hardware supplied.
If you spin the shocks so the welded nut is in the front, and went down to your local ACURA dealer and bought ITR rear shock bolts, it will work. The ITR bolts are longer than the factory Civic and Integra bolts. From what I found is that if you cut the nut off the shock and double nut the bolt they give you (which is the correct length), the nuts will never come loose. The reason you HAVE to cut the wleded nut off is that the threads are a different pitch on the longer bolts supplied and will NOT thread into the stock (or aftermarket) shocks.
The ITR bolts will work though, if you want to go that route..
Call me at the shop tomorrow, 973-696-5700 I'll be working on Tony's car, but can look them up for you and get them out to you. If you need them sooner (and I have them) you can hal over and pick them up..

ok. i tried to install the bar today and ran into the following...
1. the itr shock bolts i got must not be correct because they didnt work at all. they were in fact shorter than the stocker (which seem to work)
2. the bolts to attach the brackets to the car didnt thread into the car. i had to use the ones that held in the tow hooks that had to be removed in order to put in the brackets.
3. the bar doesnt seem to go in because the muffler is in the way. im gonna try it again after work/tomorrow and see if i can get it to work. but if not, its off to the muffler shop on monday.

2. are you sure you are choosing the right bolts? they give you a lot of bolts to use. they should be the black ones that require either 17mm or 19mm socket.
3. is the bar upside-down? compare it w/ your stock one and how it mounts. when it is mounted correctly, the sticker will probably be upside-down. that's how it is on my car. don't know why they did this.

dont think i used the wrong hardware, but ill check again. i tried the bar both ways and just now with the exhaust off. the exhaust is in the way where it comes over the lca and all. its 2 1/4 too, so its honkey. i have to have the muffler shop cut it out so ic an but the bar in. then have them make up a new rear section that will fit

When I originally installed my ST sway bar, I knocked the nuts off my shocks like it said. When I just installed new shocks, I just reversed them and threaded the bolt into the nut on the Koni's no problem. On the one side that is. The other side has a different bolt (seize incident
), and didn't tighten properly in the nut on the shock. All I did was tighten as much as possible and then threaded on the nut that came with the sway bar as a lock nut. I know that this doesn't make sense, if the bolt works on the one side, and the nut from it works on the replacement bolt, why doesn't the replacement bolt thread right? I don't know, but it works good so far. If it falls apart on me I'll let you all know
:edit: My Thermal exhaust had to be altered as well, it kept banging and vibrating against the bar. Actually broke one of the hangers off even after a mild tweak. After a second go at it, all is good, no more rub. Obviously have em bend the hangers, not the tubing.
BTW, anyone know the best way to get new endlinks for this swaybar? Mine are shot. Pegasus? ST? Anybody have a kit with better parts?

is there any way one of you guys who have the 88-91 ST bar to get a pic for me? i need to know where it will sit, so a good pic of the whole bar installed from different angles would be great...
