clifford alarm installation
I've been compiling a security system for the next car that I buy since my last two cars were stolen, and I'm without a car right now. I have autolock and removable steering wheel, fuel kill, removed ecu. I was planning to buy the clifford avant guard 4 alarm, which is 400-500 online. I called the only "clifford authorized" alarm installer in my area to get a quote for installation, and he told me $800. That's twice what the alarm costs, and he was perfectly aware that I already had the alarm. I didn't want to even ask him about doing some special additions.
Is this price completely redicilious? How much did you folks pay for installation?
I can get a killer deal on an alarm and installation, but its not a clifford. Could I get someone to install the alarm that isnt "clifford authorized?"

i know circuit city isn't a good place to get alarms installed, but they sell the clifford avantguard 4 for $1000 installed.
$800 for just an install seems like a lot though.

Yeah its kinda sad to see someone blow a lot of money on an alarm that is more or less worthless because the way it was installed. An alarm is only as good an its installation! Most chain stores used schok-loks and mount the brain in the first place a thief would look, starter disable relays are easy to get around where they are typically mounted. The best you can do is a complex install that will take a few minutes to disable rather than seconds. Hood Lock, back-up battery are musts. Find a good installer first, then look at the alarms. Good Luck! and Keep your insurance up to date.

im not saying they don't know how to install them correctly. it's just that people on this board avoid chain stores because most of them do "simple" installs.
