Default Automatic Engine Swap?

I am getting this 88 Civic hatch in a couple of days and I am looking into getting a DOHC engine swap. The only thing is it is a automatic. Is there any fairly pain free swapsi can do without changing it to a manual? It is just my beater so i dont want to spend a fortune. I was thinking either a zc or a ls swap. Any info would be appreciated.

You could put a automatic b16 into it. But I don't see the point unless your going to turbo it. I would go with a zc.

How easy is the zc swap? Remember this is my beater. I just want it to be able to get out of its own way.

I have done two ZC swaps. They are a piece of cake. It uses the stock mounts, has more power and is a cheap swap. I would recommend the use of an 88-89 Teg Automatic ECU, the stock one will run the engine but it will be very rich at idle and the fuel mapping is better. Go For IT!!!! IF its a DX then you will have to do the Dual point to MPFI. Still not a daunting task. Search for DP to MPFI conversion. There is a good article on the hybrid honda site.

B-series swaps with automatic transmissions require some creative fabrication. The problems here are (1) the size of B-series automatic transmissions, and (2) your typical Hasport or Place Racing transmission bracket won't work on an automatic transmission.

I have done a auto to manual conversion, and the only fabrication I had to do was drill one hole for the shift linkage to bolt to the car(the other was there) If you can remove your dash, then you can do this conversion. I think It would be easier to swap in a manual than make custom mounts etc. to get a Auto working

I think If you are going to leave it automatic then you should not waste your time with a swap. Just do some bolt ons to the stock motor.
Just my $.02

I also converted my car to a manual, the only hard part is getting the old pedals out and the new ones in.
