Default The Most Successful Theft Protection Technique To-Date? What Works Best?

Just like the 'Topic Title' states, what is: "The Most Successful Theft Protection Technique To-Date? What Works Best?"...

I'm interested in buying an R, but I don't want to fall victim the the massive amounts of theft amongst the Type R drivers community. Seems that every day another R becomes a victim of such a crime ring.

Would a AutoStar alarm (I think that's what they are), with the little pager on your keychain, and a fuel cut-off line be enough to protect it?

Layering is the key...

I like the fuel kill switch and the Clifford BlackJax on top of a well-installed alarm...and common sense.

This sounds very interesting!.... This is with a hood lock I assume? So if they can't get the hood open they'd have absolutely no way to start the car from the interior?!?

This sounds like the best solution I've ever heard; I'd ask for details, but....

I was thinking, and came up with this. Possibly, installing a huge skid plate under the motor, so that no wires can be accessed, and it protect the oil pan at the same time. Then, installing hood pins, (the flat ones) with locks in it. I'm sure you can find them somewhere. That way, you could install a nice battery kill switch, and the theive would have no access into the engine compartment withough actually prying open the hood, and breaking the locks???

You think that would work at all?

Don't buy a Type R if you think it's going to get stolen. Stressin' over a car is pointless...it's just a caR.

Or weld a sheet of metal over it.

So far, the only time I heard of a avoided theft was been with lojac or a alarm with a pager.

this is not true at all. Any tow truck operator will have go jacks with him that eliminate this problem. This worked back when go jakcs didn't exist, but then go jacks were made to remove this problem for tow truck operators. And do you really think a thief would care if the car hit the wall anyways?

A not to distant future anti theft idea would be to take a GPS unit, seal it in a plastic box, and hook it onto the inside of the oil pan.
