Default spark plug choice

Only I/H/E on my car. Should I stick with stock plug or go one step colder? Thanks.

Stock plugs. No reason to go colder unless you up the compression ie FI or higher compression pistons. HTH

Well, found some iridiums for a good price, so I decided to just give them a try. I know a lot of people are very skeptical about the denso iridiums but I noticed an obvious improvement. I went from fresh stock ngk's to fresh denso iridiums and that is why I know the improvements were substantial. Idle smoother, accelerate smoother, lil bit of extra kick. Anyways, butt dyno is not the last word; i'll be getting my car dynoed pretty soon and i'll do a comparison (fresh stock vs. fresh iridiums) for you guys. Thanks for all the opinions though.

OT, but you guys know your stuff. Does anyone know why the B18C5 uses a 1.1mm or .043 gap where the B18c1 and B16A2 use a 1.3mm or .051 gap? Also, does anyone know what the difference between the PFR6G-11 vs. PFR6L-13, beyond the gap size?

It's just that my Denso plugs after 20,000 miles are white as a ghost. Which says I'm either running hot or lean. I'm running skunk2 stage 1 cams, all the bolt on's and A/F tuned to 12:1-13:1. Any plug suggestions?

Don't gap your plug anymore

Take multispark plug

I agree with you about denso iridium, but one thing about design:

"By looking at design, I would say BRISK product would perform better, because it is a surface cap with no ground electrode to slow down the expansion of the ignited fuel mixture..."

Bosch 4 are crap ...ran them on my G1 ....they started idling rough after 4 months ...ran them in my dad's cressida ..they fouled ....and a peice of metal broke of the contact ...scared the cylinder head ..ended up losing compresion ....a month later head gasket blew ....

they foul to quickly ..

they work good on VW's Audi's ....

sorry to be racist but

Dont bother looking at your spark plugs to check a/f mixture.

Hahaha, that's why my 2002 BMW M3 has NGK plugs that were designed specifically by NGK for my car right?

In case you're wondering why I'm here, I used to own a Type-R (and found this board to be very informative compared to the M3 boards). Some M3 guys are looking into Denso Iridium's over the stock NGK's. I remember one of the members here said he lost 5whp from Denso Iridium's so I'm just trying to see if there was any more information regarding that.

anyone index their plugs?

seems like a major PITA for what little performance gains...and you factor in the mix should be well mixed in the cylinders by the time it is ignited.
