Default HELP 4Th gen Temp guage going crazy!

The speedometer on my current guages was all messed up,it would get stuck on 60 and stay there all the time.So i decided 2 go 2 the junkyard and buy a new cluster.I purchased a cluster that was supposedly from the same year as my car.It was from a 91 4 door lx with auto tranny.I went ahead and installed the new cluster into my car and i noticed that this cluster was even more messed up than mines, the RPM needle stayed on 3000 all the time, the speedometer was working fine and so was the gas but the TEMP went into the roof as soon as i turned on the car.So what i did was take off the speedo guage from the new one and switched it with the old broken one i had.It worked out fine but now my old TEMP guage skyrockets and stays up there.Even in the mornings when i first go to heat up my car the temp flies str8 into the "H" after like 15 seconds of the car being started. Can anyone help me out here.

BTW....i know the car is not overheating for a fact cuz the top radiator hose is soft and my fans dont turn on,theres no steam coming from the front of my car to indicate that it would be overheating or anything.i opened up the radiator while the temp read hot and the antifreeze wasnt even bubbling, everything was at normal temp.....if you guys think its the guage why would changing the guages mess up my old ones if i didnt even touch the temp one?i tried reseting the ecu but nothing.can you guys please help me out here.THANKS!

the top hose shouldn't be soft if the car is hot, check rad cap

wow, that's really bizzare. I'd have attributed the weirdness with rpm and mph to the speed sensor .....but eh, the temp thing? I have no idea...that's just odd. It's possible but unlikely that your coolant temp sensor is a goner.
