Becuase I have it doing it BAD. I ran my two 4ga wires down the right side of the car and my RCA wires on the left side (except one going through the middle).
For my deck, I used the stock ground which is in the wiring harness for the stereo. For my decks, I just grounded it along with where the fuel pump is grounded. That's the only issue I can think of is that it's painted there where the fuel pump uses the ground, should I try changing the ground to like what some mentioned here -- seatbelt bolt? (I haven't tried it yet because my grounding wires (4ga) won't reach with the way I have it cut right now.

Another thing I haven't seen brought up but I heard is that the grounding needs to be as short as possible? I was wondering what your guys opinion on this is since I have also read in some of the posts here that people recommend to put all the ground wires together in one spot. Doing that would definately make the grounds long.

Ground your HU somewhere on the chasis.

Unpainted metal works best. With painted metal you may get a ground but it is likely to cause noise or cause the amp to get flakey at high volumes.

Basically making it shorter would allow the ground wire to conduct more current than wire of an equal gauge but longer length.

Hmm..never thought about that. Off my battery, i have a 0/1 gauge for about 3ft and then a fuse holder and from there i have two 4gauge wires going to my amps

Is it common to change your negative wires to thicker wire?

Trust me. Check your amplifier ground first.

Yes.

that wont have any thing to do with your problem, but you should do it anyway.

your fuse should be closer to the battery, too.

Ground all of your equipment to the SAME spot, otherwise you will get ground loops, which cause alternator whine. Make sure to scratch off all the paint and use a star washer on the ground bolt/screw. Also use the same gauge wire for amp ground as the amp power wire.
