Greddy turbo guestion??? possibly stupid but tell me why?
Ok why does a greddy 18g not make good dyno numbers on a "b" series engine? but on a dsm is a turbo upgrade and has been known to be good for 300whp can someone please explain this?? thank you!!!
Don't you know the only turbo for a b series is a 60-1... Come on man you have been here long enough to know that.
The Greddy turbo kit should easily make 300+ at the wheels. I think most people complain about the feul managment with it or something like that. I'm also not sure that the internal wastegate is up to the task.

that is strang on clubsi there was a sticky post and it had all the greddy kit owners posting thier dyno #'s. The vast majority of them were nowhere near 300whp. There has to be a better explanation for this
Yeah they have no ***** and are not running enough boost. Your not going to lay down 300whp with 8 psi period. Most dsm guys run 18-20psi daily. Were they trying to say that the greddy only made a certain power under 300 and when they changed to a hybrid they made more with the same boost level? Its going to take close to 15psi with a hybrid to lay down those numbers.. Expect the same from the greddy kit.
You'll have to be over 10psi to score 300whp with a 18g on a GSR.
With standalone engine management, we saw 315hp at 12psi dyno posted on the AEM EMS forum.
you're right in that the DSM guys run double digit boost daily with their cast iron blocks and low compression..and lower rev limit.
Rule of
: if you want peak power, you shouldnt own a honda. if you want peak power out of a honda, get a bigger turbo.

Yeah you will have to boost more than 12psi to get 300 whp+ out of the 18G. DSMs have a really low compression so they have to boost really high, but Hondas have higher compression and can boost less and make somewhat near the same numbers. The reason you dont see many people making over 300whp+ is because you have to rebuild the Honda motor to withstand the pressure above 10psi.

I still get a kick out of you guys who think higher compresson and low boost is going to make more power than low compresson and high boost. Its a wonder all the dsm kids don't put some 13:1 pistons in and run 4lbs of boost. they would really fly then.
I promise you that if you take a stock gsr engine which can safely run ... about 10-12 psi daily and drop the compression to 8.5-9:1 and run 18-20psi its going to make a ton more power.

Safe revlimit on a 4G63 DSM can be raised to 8500 rpm with stock internals. With Ti retainers 9400 rpm can be realized.
What good is it to run that high, when you don't make any power up there?
Peace
I am making between 325-335 whp @15psi, i am curious as to the set-up this consists of??

So what's your point? And i'm just guessing here, but the 18G is gonna run out of breath at those rpms...

Here is my point.
A '99 Eclipse has 165 whp @ ~18psi. Has a real low compression (maybe 7.5:1)
A '00 Civic SI has 187 whp @ ~5.5psi. Has a higher compression (maybe 10.3:1)
