Default Newbie EG Questions..

sup everyone,

i just picked up my EG tonight...and im so used to a EF so I got a few questions.. I tried searching with no luck...

1. Mysterious chirping noise when the car is in gear? Im thinking it has somthing to do with the tranny..the car shifts and runs fine..but in low gear and when i change it sounds like i have pigeons under my hood..

2. CLOCK. I have the clock installed, but when I turn off the car and start it again, the clock resets?!

3. 99-2000 Si cd deck... how do I get it to work with my EG harness?

Help would be appreciated

1. Well I can tell you from having owned both that I don't think that noise is cause for concern. I think it is the difference between transmissions, because I have noticed that the hydraulic trannys make little noises that the cables dont... I pay close attention though because my stock engine smokes right now and every little noise concerns me, so I drove my friends 99 EX and heard some of the same things I did in my 93...

2. I dunno mine works j/k... seriously though... fuse? Maybe?

3. Well as far as I know they dont make an adapter, but who knows. You could always buy a newer harness from Honda for like 30 bucks or so, but here is the thing. I dont know if the harness is the same on the other end, so you will need to check into that, because if that is the case you are better off hitting up a junkyard, getting one their and you could pull the pins out the old harness and put them where they need to be for the new... Those are only my suggestions, but I am sure someone else has a better...

Good luck....

1. Sounds like the throwout bearing in the clutch housing.

2. Stumped.

3. I have a 2002 Civic CD deck in my fiancee's 1992 Si hatch - it usses the same plug as the 99-00 Si deck and you'll need an adapter plug.

Ask a radio shop guy to make you one - that's what I did. That way you don't have to hack your harness up.

Try finding an ITR unit if you want amber - all 1994-2001 Integra decks plug right up with no need for adapters.

The chirping is the speedo cable behind your cluster, try greasing it. I had the same problem with my 90 integra.

The clock reseting is because it is not wired to constant power sounds like someone hooked it up to accesory (switched on ignition).

The radio is just a matter of rewire, I have done this before pretty easy, or another way if you do not want to cut your wires is go to car stereo shop and buy both adapter hanesses to put in an aftermarket radio for both year cars and use them (kind of spendy though) around $60 for all harnesses.

Uhh, no.

The 1992-1995 Civic doesn't use a speedo cable like the 1990-1993 Intgera and 1988-1991, they use an electronic speed sensor.

my clock used to reset every time i turned off my car, turns out it was the back up fuse located in the fuse box under the hood, so check that out, other than that i am stumped?

Mine those the same thing...............while in low gear correct you hear a slight noise?? thats the tranny bearing or bearings....I just installed my tranny and openned it up before and I saw the bearing where kinda used up but still work u just have to live with the noise.......use redline tranny fluid it quiets them down...

if it when you press the clutch down thwn its your TOB.....
