Default Is keyless entry on all 98 civic radios?

I heard from this website, http://www.handa-accessories.com/civic98.html , that all factory radios for the 98 Civic have keyless entry built in. Is this true? I have an after market deck but was curious if it would work, so I got my hands on a remote and plugged my factory deck back in but wasn't able to get it to work. I might not be programing it right. Does anyone know if this is possible and what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks

you need to have both the factory and aftermarket headunits installed at the same time. Go to http://www.installdr.com for more information, they have a walkthrough that will tell you how to perform the installation.

He is exactly correct. And to let you know that keyless entry system applies to the Civics from years 96-98. The Metra Harness for that car is a 1720T. The best place to put the factory radio in under the dash and tie wraping it to secure bundles of wires under the dash. Make sure to cover the face of factory radio so it doesnt get scratched up during the installtion. Also, if you have noticed, your domelight supervision has been lost as well.

I bought my car used and it didn't come with keyless entry. Does it still exist inside the radio even though it was never purchased? What I mean is can I just buy a remote, install the radio like you say, and program the remote?

You're probably programming wrong. Program the remotes using http://www.handa-accessories.com/civic/98keyless.gif

<edit>
Read "The Issues" section about the extra green plug at http://www.streetdreams.com/tech/honda/civic9698.html - maybe you forgot to plug that in when you put the stock radio back in. Good Luck =P
