Car vibrates - could it be an axle?
I replaced my passenger axle with a Autozone axle about maybe 2-3 months ago. I cant really remember if my car would vibrate like it does now before the axle job, but could the axle be whats causing it? Im thinking so because I used a sledge to whack it into the tranny and later found out that could damage the bearings or something. My car also pulls to the right pretty hard (have to use a little muscle to drive straight) and Im guessing an alignment would fix that.
God, if I could just have a genie grant me one wish, it'd be to have my CRX run perfectly smoooooth with none of this bullshit. BTW, it starts to really vibrate around 55mph+.

Why the hell did you use a sledge hammer to hit it in
My guess if you hit it pretty hard and the car didn't pull to the right before you put it in and it didn't make a rattle noise before you F***** something up!

Well before you diagnose the axle as the problem, check the other things..like the screws holding on the rotor, the lug nuts, the big bolt where the lower control arm and strut meet, tie rod, etc... if all those are in good shape and nice and tight then go get another axle from autozone. See if that will fix it..
I had a simular problem and it turned out that the rotor bolts were coming out due to vibration and then the whole car would shake when i would make a turn over 30mph. Well i tightened them up and put some thread lock on it and havent had a problem since!

oh **** man u serious? that could cause vibrations? Mine are real loose.. I moved one of them with my finger once while I had my wheel off.. damn if I tightened them it might stop the vibrating? You've gotten my hopes up thinking that maybe its such a simple fix.
glad i seen this thread just now. i just got this crx last week, lowered it the other day with coilovers it rode like ****, needs tokico's all the way around, and a CAMBER KIT, so i put it back to stock the next day, until i get struts, but now on the highway i noticed the same **** around 55+, it feels like the right front strut is shimmying, left to right, i checked all the suspension bolts, retightened all of them, thinking maybe one of them wasn't completely tight, they were. Like on the highway anywhere from 50-60mph, in a gradual turn or exit ramp even at 35mph, it vibrates and shimmies pretty bad, its kinda scary, i know for a fact it didn't do that before i lowered it, its not the whole front end doing it, i can feel it, its just the right front, for what it sounds like, it sounds like if you were to loosen the top 2 bolts on the strut alittle bit, it sounds like the strut is loose, but its not, i guess i'll recheck everything.
CAMBER KITS
my crx had HELLA camber, real bad, even at stock height it looks alittle cambered, is this normal for crx's?? I'm not gonna drop it till i get a camber kit, any recoms.

no my bad, i meant the rotor screws, you know, those 2 phillips screws in the rotors.......

dude, if the caliper was holding the rotor in place, then you would hear a grinding noise all the time when you drive. The caliper only makes contact with the rotor through the pads when it is time to stop. The thing that DOES hold the rotor on are those screws and the wheel. I seriously tightend those screws and my problem was fixed..
im not "second guessing" you nor am i arguing with you. All i am saying you have some BADASS brakes if they dont move around when you have the wheel and those screws off! Where can i get a set of those?
Haha ok, calm down. Im going to tighten these rotor screws tomorrow after school and post back with you guys. Im also gonna tighten up all of my suspension bolts. Anyone got the torque specs on all of them handy?

Here are 2 different posts that people have said they same thing get rid of the bolts they dont do much especially after the rim is back on.

i had that same problem when i first replaced an axel...turned out that i damaged the bearings inside the tranny where you put in the axel...and i had my mechanic replace them...if i recall it wasnt too expensive....also check and see if it is leaking oil around that area...

Lets hope not. Could you find out what those bearings are called?

well, don't know who your referring to, but i know for a fact my wheels are balanced, just put new tires on all 4, balanced, so i know its not that, someones first impression would be an out of balance wheel, but the fact that it started doing it after i lowered it, puzzled me, something is loose somewhere.
