will downsizing from 18 inch to 15 inch wheels improve ANYTHING?
i have 18 inch racing harts on rite now and i love the way the look but i fear i am losing some power maybe. i want to put my stockers back on for a bit with 205\50\15 azenis tires. the stock size is 195\65\15. will this be a good idea? will i see any improved gas mileage? acceleration?
thanks

why bother mang? your rims are nice and look good on our fat 6th gen.
15 look very small and if you not going to race/timed event/drag you prolly cant tell they are there, except for like a 0.0025 seconds of lag.

well if your rims are heavy then 15s would increase acceleration and braking performance. It will make your ride a bit nicer too. i doubt you'll like the look of 15s though if your used to 18s, why not just step down to 17s.

It isn't a good idea to go to a 205/50/15 from the 195/65/15, a 205/55/15 isn't even good for your vehicle. You need to run a 205/60/15 (ask tirerack-if you don't believe me). 205/50/15 are meant for civics/integras, or can be used only at the track on accords, like some people do. Your speedo/tach will be soooo off.

just to add 205 55 15 is fine for 90-97s, but for 98+ I4s 205 60 15 is what's correct.

If you choose to go another size, some way or another the car will not perform as well either dynamically, or it's fuel consumption will go up.
I think what sauceman is referring to is correct. if 15" wheels are the stock size, then the size of tire that is best suited for the car (as far as speedometer accuracy, etc) will be the one that is in listed in the manual , so what he said was correct.
I have 195/50-15's on my '91 Civic hatch. 205/50-15's on a 6th gen Accord would look ridiculous.
