Default Changing a wheel stud

I have a stripped wheel stud and went to replace it today only to find that they cannot just be pushed out, do I have to take apart the hub assembly to get the old stud out and put the new one in? And to take apart the assembly do I need a puller?

How much will a shop charge to do it the proper way? Not that I am actually going to pay a shop, but just curious.
