01 GSR JDM Header/Carsound Cat/Apex'i N1 NEED HELP!!!
OK I have a 01 GSR how do I make a JDM Header, Carsound Cat and Apex'i N1 all bolt together without having to goto a muffler shop for welding. I would think the header and cat would be the hardest to pair up, but I don't know. Also keep in mind that the 00-01 GSR header and exhaust systems are different(same as 94-01 LS). Also is this a good combonation for all motor route?
actually 00-01gsr=94-99. Why dont u contact SMSP on this board, u can buy a carsound cat from him w/ custom flanges so it will bolt right up on both ends.
and yes, thats a pretty good setup for all motor. I would rather get the hytech tho, for 200 dollars more than the apex. its a true 2.5" exhaust w/ no bottlenecks.

Apex N1 is 2.36 inches, (60 mm). either way someone will have to weld the flanges onto the cat. hytech cat and exhaust=900. (cat alone is worth 600, its a renault 100,000 mile cat) so its definitely worth it.

and SMSP can do this correct? so it would be ready to bolt up right out of the box

no i have not purchased them yet. id rather have everything bolt up nice and clean, i dunno i guess im just picky. all i have now is a greddy evo, but i am thinking of replacing it with a n1.

yea it was just a thought, but either way i would like the jdm header and carsound cat to bolt up clean. just wondering but if i were to take it to a muffler place what would they charge for modifying the exhaust
heh yea, 5k
but ANYWAYS! i wouldnt mind modifying, but would still like to be able to bolt up the stock cat for smog, damn so cal

luckily my brother in law certifies smog.
Here's the breakdown for my car (95 GS-R):
(1) DC Sports JDM 4-1 Ceramic header from hondadriven = $289 shipped (on GB now for the same price)
(1) Carsound 94066 cat from SMSP = $165 shipped
(1) SMSP 2.5" -> ITR ID reducer flange = $55 shipped
(1) ITR B-pipe = $105
Drove open-header for a week waiting for the ITR B-pipe, then finally took it to Midas for a the welding of the reducer flange to the ITR B-pipe. $80.

ill have to remember that when smog time comes around
i was reading some other threads (GOTTA LOVE THAT SEARCH BUTTON) and i should really up to a 2.5in exhaust, since the jdm header collector is 2.5 and so will the cat. i was thinking maybe a custom cat back using mandrel bent SS to my greddy canister.
hmmm, whats a good 2.5 in universal muffler?
haha. j/k. hytech and smsp both make 2.5" mufflers, but kinda expensive if bought seperately. T1R also has a 2.5" muffler. i dont know of any universal ones.

dude why not jsut buy the hytech setup for 1600 it has the 2.5 inch outlet on the header and the cat is included as well as the sutom 2.5" id tubing back to a twin loop muffler. no carb exemptions but the jdm has no carb exemptions either. i know that smsp will charge you about 200-250 for the cat. the header is 400 and the exhaust you want is around 650. so save another 400 bux and you have on eof the sweetest setups out there for our cars.
